Ok recently my post got edited for what a mod claimed was bad words. I have nothing against the mod who did it. I'm just a bit confused.

Since when did Hell become a bad word? I say it at school and don't get in trouble for it, I say it at home and don't get in trouble for it, I say it at church and don't get in trouble for it. Hell is a place. Some think it's real, some think it's fake, but we're not getting into that.

So since when did the word hell offend anyone? I can't say hell, but I can let people call me a bastard and them not get their post edited? Hmmm...

And if it is a bad word then shouldn't people ingame account names be changed along with planet names? What we can't do on the forums should only be fair ingame as well.

ANY word can be used for swearing, depending on its context and intent.

as for your post, i didnt see it...so i cant comment on that.

from a sensitive point of view, thats technically swearing. but as jack said, and you in your initial post, it's a word commonly used around here. plus its not very offensive, so...

If I replaced the word with Angels $5 says it wouldn't have been edited out. What makes Hell different from that?

angels are a race, hell is a place?

plus its simply depends on point of view. so, you should technically be having this argument in private with the mod in question, rather then bringing it up in the public forum.

Same here. In fact, it's one of the more mild words I use. Of course I've been warned for stronger language before, so I'm not much of one to talk. As for the modding of it, most modding of swearing is done because of the younger audience playing the game? In any case, I highly doubt they could even watch television and not hear worse.

Anywho, I suppose take it up with the ombudsman as opposed to doing a public crucifying?

Plus what if we let this go by. The start editing words out like shut up or stupid or something like that.

And yeah, Angels is different, what if I replaced Hell with Heaven, or New York, or something. Bet it wouldn't be edited then, but then it's still swearing as Zekk said.

Okay, I see your point. I suppose you're a bit more level-headed than Eros, that's the only reason I was a little apprehensive to a public issue of it.

It should clearly be on where your from and what you personally deem offensive or unacceptable. Also depends on your upbringing and where your from etc etc.

In the context that JMX used i dont see that as modding material if you ask me but each to their own i guess.

Yeah, that's ridiculous.

Apparently, someone hadn't met their edit quota for the day...

i've known mods to have "bad days" where they've not been thinking straight. why not cite this as an example of one such case, and forget about it. i'm sure most mods would simply pass over such a use nowadays.
