Just wondering, if I ascend, do I lose my cmdr as well, or, just the basic stats (up, ms, planets, etc)?

You got it a bit wrong there, you dont loose your MS nor your planets and you also dont loose lifers.

you used to loose your mothership but since an update that came out a while ago all you loose on your mother ship is the weps and shields but not the caps i think. i havent asnceded in over 7 months

*grins* I've raided a few good times, and am quickly rising. My goal is to try to ascend w/in the 'noobie 2 wks' (preferably w/in my 1st wk, but I'm not sure exactly when that would be..). I'm about 3.8k rank, so, I know I'll be w/in ascend levels soon. But I thought I should ask, what should I start doing, to prepare for ascending?

Semi-Experienced Player coming back after a long break from the game. Taking it kind of slow and keeping a low profile this round. Immediately traded in my 1st week's MT's for ATT's and went farming. Concentrating mainly on getting Covert/Anti-Covert skills up as much as I can; Currently sitting at 24/24. Maxed All Techs except for the MS Upgrade (Have up to Level 5). Keeping UP at 1 for right now in order to keep low. Excess money from farming goes into MS Capacities (Not going to start buying the weapons/shields/fleets yet) .

As soon as Monday rolls over and the MT counter resets, I plan on trading for ATT's again, farming as much as I can to max out MS tech and get another level or two of C/AC, wait for next week's MT into ATT, then start raiding for UU's.

Thanks for the tip. J/w, when you ascend, do u keep any planetary upgrades as well? On a side-note, welcome back to the game.

you keep your planets completely as they were before ascention
but you loose all technology upgrades like Mercs and MS techs
