How much does a defense merc cost nowdays?

Ive got 8 billion out, but aparently its not enough.
I decided to buy 1 merc, JUST ONE!
and I'm told I do not have enough resources to pay.
WTH?

This is no joke BTW.
I can't even buy 1 merc with 8 bill.
Says, "You don't have the resources to pay" The hell I don't. Unless one defense merc is now 9 billion.

I wouldn't pay much attention to the 'You don't have enough resources to pay' message...
Here's what is probably the issue:
You can only have 85.00 percent (base of 25 plus 60 percent in upgrades) of your trained troops as mercenaries.
Beyond that, you do not have enough troops loyal to you to ensure compliance to your orders.
You now have:
*** Trained Mercs.
*** Trained Military Units.
You can have a maximum of *** Trained Mercs.
ADDITIONALLY - each Merc (attack or defence) is paired with a 'super soldier' (attack or defence). This means that you can only have as many attack/def Mercs as you have supers of that type. (plus 10% for each merc level)
BEYOND THIS, NOT ONLY CAN YOU NOT GET MORE, BUT THEY WILL RUN AWAY IF GIVEN THE CHANCE!!! ABOUT 10% OF THE 'OVERLIMIT' WILL DISAPPEAR PER TURN.

10,988 Trained Mercs.
130,508 Trained Military Units.
You can have a maximum of 97,881 Trained Mercs.
If thats the case I shouldn't have a problem. Still can't even buy 1 merc.

mercs are tied to the number of supers of the same kind you have ... you cannot buy an attack merc for example if you do not have attack supers trained

Try selling a few mercs, then try to buy a few.

I had supers trained and for some reason it still didn't work, but I tried what u said and sold a few and now I can buy them, how odd. Earlier, I couldn't even buy 1. Oh well, at least I think it is fixed now
