Assassins

Assassins.... Same thing as sabbing but against troops.
Any comments? Soz if this has been said before.

So... Upgrading Spies to Assassins at a high cost, much like upgrading Attack troops to Super Soldiers?

Would they use Attack Turns, Covert Turns or some new sort of Assassin Turn? You'd have to take balance and potential horrible abuse into account with this - a great many people loathed the Raid feature if memory serves.

dun they hab assassins in asscension? there should be things in ascension not found in main?

There is something about Assassins in the Ascended game, but I think it's more to do with the killing each other and forcing each other to Decend by removing life points. Silly Ascended beings. :P

Make them like 1mil each or something tho

So do i but 1mil per spy would seroiusly disrupt bulk buying of assassins

comeon some people could get 50 a turn from just their income

A million might be a bit too steep. Perhaps 500,000.

Furthermore, I would suggest that their numbers be limited by a continously upgradeable Assassin Technology. That too would have to be expensive (perhaps based on the your current Covert Action, a lot like Merc Tech is based on Unit Production).

Everyone would agree that Assassins should no longer count towards your Covert Action, right?



Moving on to their functions. What would Assassins actually assassinate? Enemy Spies? Untrained Units? A 25% chance to hit Attack, Defence, Covert or Untrained Units respectively? Actually, if that were to be implemented then I syggest that it should be Mercs that are killed first... thus giving some purpose to Untrained Mercs (living shields for those precious Untrained Units).

Clearly a rank modifier would also need to be built into this - if your target is say... more than a 1000 ranks below you then your Assassination damage is reduced by 50%, 2000 ranks below would be by 75% and so on, up to 99% for 3000 ranks below (representing the fact that it is harder to locate people to kill if they are few in number and therefore easily hidden. Similarly, a positive modifier for attacking those ranked above you, representing the ease of finding a target if the target system is swarming with enemies.

Would you have Assassins die once they complete their mission? It would certainly stop people hoarding them.

Lastly, if this were to be implemented I think we would see a lot more offensive actions between players, so I would suggest that if you are targetted by Assassins then you can see who sent them (unlike a successful Sabotage), so that you can respond appropriately.

lets leave assassins to acsension server so we hab something to look forward too. also see the paradox thread because assassins would be a top ranking players toy only. i could support random events (as suggested before)...i dun realli feel like finding the thread

assassins r in ascension and doubt it will be in main as well or there wasn't much point in ascending in the first place if ascension and main r the same.
