Even at school, where there are filters and I have to use a proxy

Is back now, was on and off for 20 minutes.

it was being iffy earlier but now is good. my school filters stargatewars.com but if u go to gatewars.com it isnt filtered so thats how i get passed it.

my school is block happy.

They blocked ascended, .de, thegatewars.com, gatewars.com, stargatewars.com, and every proxy I've used so far.

Now I can't even find a proxy that would work at my school!

yeah, i was pretty surprised they hadnt blocked it because they block everything even stuff i need to look at for the class.

I had some periods where the game was really slow earlier. Though its working great now?

heh, they have whitelisted sites that they havent categorized yet at my school, but its the same block statewide. And yes, they have blocked all instances of SGW at my school.

I finished last year, but as far as I know the BOS was going to just block every site and if a school wanted something unblocked, they'd have to request it. A whole lot simpler than blocking all the "bad" sites out there, a whole lot more annoying for everyone Well, that was NSW at least.

Yeah, thats what theyve done, and also that is what I meant by whitelisting. Anything uncategorized becomes blocked. It's ridiculous, I can still send anything I want to my school email, yet can't access hotmail, while it has exactly the same risk. The anti-virus protection is stupid as well, it stopped my packet sniffer from the USB lol. But the DET seriously needs to get a life

yeah, because i'm sure schools want all their bandwidth being taken up by pupils playing games and d/l'ing video's off the web. Do that at home, not at school where you are supposed to be learning not playing.

With the price of intarwebs these days

if a school can't afford to connect to the internet, they should slap themselves.

my uni has twin 100mb pipes over here. my highschool has its own 20mb pipe.

Philly school district can't figure out how to block HTTPS without taking out every HTTPS site. Their own sites included.
