Right!

In Corner number one we have Apophis. The first System Lord to set foot on Earth since the rebellion (obviously excluding seth, who wasnt really a System Lord...no systems to control...) Apophis was a major ally of the Tauri for the first few seasons, he generally travelled with only a handful of body guards (as seen in 'the nox'). He managed to gather two whole ships to take to earth, they were both destroyed by well placed C4, which somehow crippled him. After this Sokar took what was left of Apophis basically killed him, where he died begging for his life and sanctuary off the Tauri. After this he was returned to Sokar, where he became a low level slave finally rising up and attempting to kill Sokar. He failed, the Tauri killed Sokar by destroying Netu. Apophis got lucky and inherited Sokar's forces. He built a super mother ship with very powerful weapons, amassing a fleet of about 8-20 hatak class vessels. This was destroyed by the blowing up of a sun, before the remainder of his fleet was crippled by the replicators, and the crashing Hatak that ultimately led to his death. Besides from this Apophis completely died, his legacy no more then a few forgotten memories and the marks on a few Jaffa's head.

In the second Corner we have Ra. The leader of the system lords, it was him who commenced the 300 year civil war on Anubis, it was also him who organised the Goa'uld empire into Sysetm Lords. He was the Supreme System Lord, one of the few capable of controlling all of them under a single banner for long. Ra held this position for nearly 20,000 years, with only Sokar and Anubis ever threatening this. He was killed by a nuclear bomb above abydos whilst fleeing a rebellion.

In the Third corner is Baal. A new System Lord, he has since been the leader of the largest Goa'uld armada ever amassed consisting of over 100 hataks, but only when under the control of Anubis. Baal has continued to exist long after the final fall of the Goa'uld empire, cloning himself, being a constant pain in the Tauri, managing to make a living on earth herself, and even helping in the fight against the Ori. Baal like Anubis was very influential in the final downfall of the replicators.

In the final corner is the grand daddy of darkness. Anubis. He sent the original Goa'uld ruler insane, taking control of the empire himself, before fighting a 300 year civil war against the combined forces of all the other system lords, using ancient and other techs to have a certain dominance. After being exiled Anubis built up force trying to return, but was quickly subdued and thought to be killed. He ascended, a feat no other goa'uld has ever done before. Anubis built up considerable power and dominated the galaxy yet again. His fleet of over 30 ships was destroyed by an ancient weapon when poised to destroy earth. He had a super mothership capable of destroying planets and large fleets of enemy ships, of very unique design. He returned and nearly destroyed the galaxy, only the timely intervention of an ascended being stopping him. Anubis created the Kull warriors and his legacy remained in both Stargate Atlantis and SG-1, with him creating clones capable of ascending and conquering the ascended plane.

ok! WHO! is the man? Who is the top Goa'uld!

Silly question, it's Anubis. Can't beat an ascended SL, even it's only half ascended.

Wait, does that make Anubis a daimon?

as far as the point of this topic is concerned, we are using the canon SG-1 universe.

Baal wins for me - one question answers it who is still around and who are all dead ( well we will wait for the 2nd film cos it will prob change then but atm!!!)

Yeh Ra was the leader and all ( we never got to see his true power) but like Apothis he was over confident and underestimated the enemy - which was their downfull

Anubis - well yeh he was the strongest and best and showed skill in sending in a small fleet first too earth but again he just assumed that they had nothing - an all powerful god would have made the tauri attack by launching on the cities of earth to see our true defence - that way yeh they would have been destroyed but that would only have been a couple of ships the rest would have stayed safe and he lives again to fight with the full fleet strengh

Ok he came back but again he put trust into the cunning Baal who was always gonna betray him when it suited him

to me Baal wins cos he knows armed forces, fleets and normal power doesn't always win - he uses his brain and it paid of as he is still here. he reminds me of the tokra a bit ( bad) but he goes with their style of attack. - slow biding his time.

imbecile. I literally state the truth, that is all, it is not bias, just shocking that Anubis IS that good compared to the rest...simple as. Lol..maybe instead of questioning my methods, you should just take a few seconds and re-think your reasoning then you will see the truth. OH! and this thread has been around for a while..anyone has been free to step up and make more cases for the other Goa'ulds. Lord Raf presented some nice reasons as to why Baal was good.

Out of that list it has to be Anubis, but remember who finally eliminated him, therefore someone has surpassed him as "The daddy" 8)
