Making Stargatewars Economics more Sophisticated

I've got a little idea that could make the whole trading and financial aspect of Stargatewars much more complex, based on the real life system that the UK uses.

The idea comes in two parts.

Firstly, everyone's bank would give interest upon the Naq stored in it.

This would create a more significant trade-off between spending naq or saving it.

Secondly, an in-game Central Bank of Stargatewars would be created. This would be a council of players, who every month vote upon what the interest rates for the banks would be.

The idea is that the Central Bank then uses this power to regulate the market. Inflation in Stargatewars is evident, and the Central Bank's main job would be to ensure a reasonable rate of inflation.

They would do this by controlling the rate at which interest is gained on savings. The higher the interest rate, the more attractive it is to save, and the less people will trade, and visa versa.

In this way, if the Bank believes that prices are rising too quickly,they can increase the interest rate and people will save more and trade less. Demand in the market will fall, and traders will be forced to lower prices to find a buyer. On the other hand, if prices are stagnant they can do the reverse.

Who the players are in the Central Bank could be chosen in a number of ways.

They could be the top 30 ranked players in the game. They could be the 30 players with the largest army sizes. Or they could be elected positions.

So that's the idea.

SGW is not UK :? And I think the idea of bank interest was shot down not so long ago...

yes, lucky starr, it was...

interest would only really benefit the large... therefore not balanced enough to be added...

so in our opinion, a bad idea...

I agree its bad business, my bank capacity is nearly 70 trill naq. I could make more in intrest then many players would make in full income.

i havent read anywhere near all the suggestions, altho i might have one that kinda goes along with this one, but not that much haha. im not trying to jack your thread 8) just gonna suggest that a different system for trading be set up...

i know that in some games, there is a universal market built into the game. you can post up whatever you have for how much and anyone can accept it, all done in the game. this way would save a lot of players time when looking for ATs and such and when players are selling various things. given there would have to be a "pick-up goods" system so that when the trade was accepted, the resources were not just dropped into the open. but this is a good idea in my opinion because everyone can see what is up for sale.

there could be different places for ATs, uu, etc... forgive me if this has been suggested before and shot down :-D and for putting it in here :)

Love the idea, just not for main. Maybe for like quantum but the round would have to be longer or like chaos.

yes nto for main intrest for banks no matter what ammount woudl kill all th esmaller players casue the larger player have a much higher income and coudl save 10's of trillions if nto 100's and interest ont 100 trill naq it alot

only way I could see interest is that if you want to use interest then you get a percent of it taken out for withdrawing but you can choose when u put naq in bank if u want it for Interests or if you want to keep it the old way

Eh... ideas are ideas but I already think that the 'realm' is already inflated.

Putting people in charge of the interest rate might just make it even worse, as they would want more naq for themselves and just say yes to high interest rates.

the %s shouldnyt be changed by player by some script that woudlbe made or maby a mass vote (im still aginst the idea)
