is roll playing a form of MPD?

i was just thinking that roll playing could be a form of multiple personality disorder.
we all roll play by simply playing the game, granted, some people roll play more than others (not pointing any fingers) but whether you agree or not you ARE roll playing.
so are we all suffering with MPD?

If we are, is it really a bad thing? Must we "suffer" from something we enjoy so much?

it is a disorder if its just us and the rest of the world is fine (not counting genuine cases of MPD)

Its a very complicated issue.
FIRSTLY!!!! It is NOT called MPD...it is dissociative identity disorder.
Secondly NO, role playing is not D.I.D..
DID takes several forms, it can make you a completely different person, most of the time you have no recollection of what happens whilst the 'other person' is in control. The second manifestation of DID is a satellite personality, but this is more like an imaginary friend, only taking over in rare instances or lashing out..I suppose you can compare it to touretts.
WHEN people role play, they dont become a completely different person, they simple act in a different way, still possessing the consciousness, loud and clear of who they really are. Role playing is just acting a part. DID is actually HAVING that part alive in you, but still separate.

well you see...here enters the factor of society. Who is ever really themselves, no one..because no one really dosent care what everyone else thinks. it goes against basic instinct. You want to be part of the pack, its just some people dont have the will or intelligence to know when and where to draw the line in the sand. Then again...that is still not D.I.D

Multiple personality disorder (MPD) is a psychiatric disorder characterized by having at least one "alter" personality that controls behavior.
regardless of being in control we ALL behave differently on the forum...do we not?
this thread is just a fact finder nothing more, simply want to see what the community thinks:)

yes, and we dont use MPD anymore, its the incorrect name for it. I should know I am majoring in Psychology for heavens sake..lol.
Do we behave differently? So what if we do? Still not DID.
By definition role playing is NOT DID.
DID aint playing or acting. So this isnt even a matter of opinion. The answer can only be no.

Why do doctors feel the need to change names like that and complicate things further?
