The End of Norbe

Story Time from RepliNorbe.
"BOOM". The sheer force of the explosion awoke Norbe even before the sirens began screaming. Something was not right. He quickly got out of bed, put on his uniform and ran for the command centre.
His defensive troops were already armed and prepared when he got there. The worried look on the faces of the command crew made him even more anxious. "Report!" he shouted. Jopus was the first to reply "A massive ship just exited hyperspace and started firing some sort of weapon at the colony!" Norbe needed to know more. "Damage report?" he questioned. "Unknown, it looks like our mothership was the first target". Ritana, was the next to speak. "We have reports coming in from the frontline troops now sir". "Good, put them through". Norbe knew the enemy had caught them by surprise, and needed to hear more about them to plan the response.
"I... I've never seen anything like it." the soldier spoke. "Theres hundreds of them! They're just eating everyone and everything". "Calm down soldier," Norbe instructed. "Who are attacking us?". "I'm not sure... they're like robot spiders, thousands, maybe millions of them." Norbe finally understood. The replicators had launched an all out attack on his galactic system.
"FALL BACK! FALL Baaack.... aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" Silence came over the radio. Norbe glanced at the sensors. Life signs were going out all around the outer edges of the colony. "Bring everyone back to the inner levels, and tell them not to engage the enemy." Norbe commanded. He needed to come up with a plan, and fast.
As the troops fell back, Norbe watched on the sensors as the replicators followed. Suddenly and without warning, all of the lights in the colony turned off, as did all of the major systems. The replicators had cut the power. Norbe decided to take matters into his own hands, he grabbed the nearest handheld energy weapon, shouted "Get the nearest team to meet me in corridor 3C" and left the command centre.
Unknown to Norbe, whilst he was running towards the power room a great battle was going on in space above the planet. Somehow the asgard had found out about the replicator attack, and had arrived to control the situation. They were engaging the replicator ship in battle, and would soon be victorious.
The troops were waiting for Norbe as he arrived "We have lost power. We need to get to the power room and restore it" Norbe commanded. "Lead the way soldier, I will follow you". Amazingly, passage to the power room was simple, and they encountered no replicators on the way there. Something seemed odd, but Norbe began working on the power conduits immediately. Not much time went past before he heard the tapping noise of mechanic movement. He must work quickly.
The replicators made short work of the door, as they literally burned straight through it. Norbe typed in the last command onto the keypad, and the lights returned. He picked up his handheld weapon, and joined the soldiers shooting the replicators. Whilst the weapons were effective in stunning the replicators for a second, they did not kill them, nor stop them permanently. Endless amounts of replicators poured in, and soon Norbe was surrounded.
The asgard monitored the situation from space, making sure that nothing could either go to or leave the planet. "Well, its been an honour to know you Norbe", one soldier stated. "It has been my honour to lead a community of such fine people soldier" The replicators closed in, and quickly engulfed the soldiers. Norbe just stood there, and looked one of the replicators. Suddenly, one jumped on Norbe's back, and he felt a great pain. The replicators didnt kill him though, like they did with the soldier squad. Instead Norbe lay there, and his mind filled with replicator thoughts. They were searching for information. Norbe knew this was his chance. He reached out with his mind, and linked with the replicator collective. The colony had been completely overrun now, and nobody was left alive. Norbe's mind battled with the replicators for what felt like days. Each searching for information, and trying to stop the other from reaching it. By the end, their thoughts simply merged into each other. Norbe was no longer himself. The NanoTiMaster was born, and from now on, would be known as RepliNorbe."
