Macross Frontier!

So it's been a few months since this series was shown. (Really though only the first episode in december and recently the rest of the series.)

Anyone else going crazy over wanting to watch the next episode? I know I am D:

(timeline is macross -> Macross 7 -> Macross frontier)

I have to say .. I didnt watch Macross 7 and I started watching recently to find out the link to original and it has to be one of the most aggravating series of all time to watch. It would not be so bad but the main characters are in all in a band and they just HAVE to play the same damn Planet Dance song at least twice every episode.

A very general episode outline is..
1. rock band gets gig, starts playing songs. One of them is Planet Dance.(They have like three songs total)
2. Enemies come attack; Basara flies out in his VF-19 and sings his song, which happens(has to be?) to be Planet Dance.
3. Enemies run away for various reasons, none of which is related to his singing.
4. Episode end.

i get macross 7 and plus mixed up.

i hate how people changed the name from Robotech to macross seriously robotech was 1st gen stuff and was a master peiace in my eyes.

robotech sparked the macross series which has ran since, if youve never known of this series.... your not a tru die hard anime fanatic in my eyes.

ive read the book (over 500pages long, actually is a book book because the mangas go to be so damn long)

You're not serious are you? The robotech series is MADE from the macross series.

It is pretty obvious if you watch the first 36 episodes of Robotech and Macross. I know because I met with one of the directors (I forget which) that described the painstaking detail of re-dubbing and changing most of the story to try and fit American 80's standards. Macross and Robotech are TWO DIFFERENT stories.

Also.. if you look at the dates:

The Super Dimension Fortress Macross 1982 - 1983

Genesis Climber Mospeada 1983 - 1984

Robotech 1985 - 1986
Robotech II: The Sentinels 1986

Macross Plus 1994
Macross 7 1994 - 1995

and super deminsional fortress is what i was talking bout... but the two sound alot alike i thought there were tied togather.

maybe not ? i remeber how ever watching robotech on tv at one time before gundam wing was made or atleast before it was put on tv here. :?

Anime that came after other anime are certainly tied to at some points, as the creators can certainly be inspired by them to make new series.

It's like how Rahxephon is to Evangelion.

If you want to see how some series work out.. you can look at these links.

Macross
Robotech

And.. the main differences between the two are ..
In Robotech, protculture is a fuel that you put in space vehciles or something.
Macross; protoculture turns out to be song energies.
yea, 7 was pretty epic. I still can't get enough of Infinity. It's constantly looped to play it self over and over :D

I found a nice site that summarizes all the songs up to episode 9 or so.

The only song missing is the carrot song! *laughs*

Yep, I love this series.

Macross plus is what got me hooked on "serious" anime rather than the dbz type of BS.

Yokko Kanno is a goddess and i was ecstatic when I heard she was doing the music for this series.

Also the fansubs look fan freaking tastic on my lcd TV piped from my living room PC.

The underlying theme of macross has always been love triangles.

Great anime.
