non PPT week

i suggest a week in the year (starting - let's say on the day SGW was opened for public) when no PPT would be allowed (except when ascending).

to spice up things a bit and to honor the farmers that are distracted by those annoying PPTs every day... :P

*goes off farming*

I don't care. LOL it would probably force more people on vac mode for that particular week.

lol - 5 votes for each option atm.

I say No, because all it would do is force more people onto vacation for that time - so the farmers wouldn't really benefit - and it would hinder some people who use it for protection when they genuinely know they won;t be able to get to a PC.

Would love it If I had the ability to remove ppt of the players, attack them and give their ppt back to them, lol

limit ppt to players who are below a combined defense and attack value. that way, it would serve it's purpose; to protect the weak. :-D this would effectively remove ppt from very strong players. also eliminates half the farming. :-D i'm sure there will be a lot of objections.

PPT is not for weak neither strong ...

it's when you can't be on sgw that day and you dont want to VAC... that's the purpose

and ofc when you want to have a break :P

I disagree. This game was patterned after Stargate SG-1. PPT was a tool used by the Asgard to protect weak planets. If this game is to follow closely with the TV show universe, then we should take PPT for what it is, a treaty to protect weak planets. If you know you can't be on SGW for work, health or leisure reasons, then VAC should be used.

Not really, because sometimes i have 1 day of the week when I am at work but out of the office and have no internet access. Therefore I put my account on PPT. If i was to put it on vac mode then I would lose 2 days, but it's only 1 day that I have no internet access for.

I know what you guys are trying to say and i recognize the differences between PPT and VA. That PPT is better to use than VA during short term absences and you don't lose turns, UP and NAQ.

However, as one person who appreciated the Stargate SG1 storyline, I am only elaborating on the original purpose of the PPT. PPT was a treaty the Asgards used to keep weak planets safe from the Goaulld. Because the Asgard were technologically superior, the Goauld feared the Asgard and refrained from attacking weaker planets included in the treaty.

I hear what you are saying and at one time I would have supported that argument - but since when is SGW that well patterned to SG1!!!???

We don't even have stargates in the game - unless your telling me that all my millions of troops/spies and weapons sneak through the gate unnanounced to launch their attack!!??

ANd since teh introduction of a stargate has been suggested many times and never implemented, what are the chances of PPT doing what it does in the show?

 if, wolf. i said if. :-D besides, we assume that it is by way of stargate that one realm raids another. else, how can your troops raid someone else's troops? do they just magically appear on your target realm?

Nah - doesn't add up - you send millions of troops, a mothership and millions of weapons through the gate?

Besides, raid hasn't always been around - and just because it was invented as a new form of attack, it isn't necessarily right to assume it is done via the gate.

Even before motherships were brought into the game, you couldn't assume that attacks were done through the gate - again because of the sheer numbers of troops involved, and the physical size of the weapons.

Not sure what you meant by the 'if' part there - but I think clarkey answered why PPT should be kept as it is, over using Vacation instead - my post was to emphasise the fact that it is unlikely to happen that PPT mirrors exactly what it does in the show, because SGW does not mirror the show.
