Poll: for an idea to raise newbie signup retention rates

This poll is for an idea to help increase the active game population. There are too many new accounts that are left by their owners. The idea below is to help these newbies so that we can increase the sign up retention rate. In the end, I believe that Admin will be interested in this because it will increase game population. Details are as follow:

1) The biggest factor for accounts attrition is newbie droupouts.
2) The SGW community loses a lot of players there.
3) There isn't any in-game mechanism to help newbies with their growth.

Solution:
1) I was thinking that Admin can add a page or two to SGW in-game. This will be a recruiting page where prospective CO's can post their requirements and newbies can post requests for a CO.

2) This is not really a forum where you can write messages. Its just a list. In game messaging can take care of any messages.

3) Anyway, there will be a definition of terms on the page to explain UP, Raw, modified, and whatever else needs to be defined for the newbie.

4) A link to looking for CO page and looking for officer page can be placed in command center.

Theoretical Conclusion:
If this were put in place, you could feasibly lower the rate of new sign-ups dropping their new accounts.

Before you can even rebut, I know what you are going to say. That there is a place for this in the forums. But let me tell you:

1) I didn't register for the forums in the first two weeks that I was playing. I'm not even registered in chat.

2) I saw a post of a player looking for an alliance. That player has been playing for a couple of years but only recently registered with the forums.

3) Look back when you started. Did you immediately register with the forums?

My point of view is that if we really want to improve on SGW population, we have to recruit and help the newbies where it counts. In-game.

Flooding the Command Center with too many buttons will scare the newbies away. Too many buttons makes the newbies think this game is really tough. No more additional pages should be added.

I stopped playing the chaos gate just bcas there were too many buttons and too many types of resources which were all too confusing. All those resources and buttons scared me too much, lol :-D :-D

I think "enlist with a CO" or "Hire officers" is self-explanatory and wouldn't scare newbies away.

I have a better idea! Old players looking for an officer can sign up in seperate page in the market for a 25billion naq. New players who are just filling their account details to join SGW will be given the list of all the players who applied in the market to have a new officer. The new players can select one of them and join them. :-D :-D

that's the idea. it doesn't matter if it's in the market or on its own page just as long as we can increase nooby participation

heh, heh - I only registered in chat myself yesterday - I don't like the system much.

No - registered after about a week, but it didn't make a lot of difference back then.

This idea has some merit - but I've got to say I don't know if it would work in its current format. It probably needs some tweaking - but what exactly I don't know - and I'm tired because it was extremely hot here last night and I couldn't sleep.

The main downside I see, since this is aimed at retaining newbies, is that this would seem to be available for all to use - and you'll probably find everyone who advertises for officers now will be advertising in their, and the newbs won't come up to the requirements of having minimum of 100k UP or whatever.

Maybe this could be linked from the market - and to keep it as simple as possible, should be limited to COs advertising. Then players can look to see which players are willing to take on officers. Even better, players who register can tick a checkbox to say they are willing to take on newbie players - this can then be filtered so the newbie can see which players are willing to help them. Or maybe it's made just for newbie helpers.

There are players like me in the middle who can assist newbies. If we were using this system and I was recruiting, my raw UP requirements would be less than 20K. I'm a middle player in that I've established myself but aren't quite there yet. But yes, a check button for COs willing to take newbies in will do good. Better yet, just for noob helper. Get some sleep.

20k up is rather hard to get for someone that is new...

but its quite easy for a medium player to aquire the naq to get 20k up... i.e. help the newbie get that up... its not as if 333b is hard to get hold of...

I am actually very interested in this idea, and would love to find more and new ways/incentives to keep new players playing.

I think some of the one that drop out do so because they don't understand the game, and need help, but no-one to turn to. When they don't understand, they just quit :(

Great concept weilandsmith, I hope something comes of it

more players, more farms :-D seriously, it would give those of us who want to really help a chance to actually help. we help the newbie, we help the game, and we help ourselves, because, no matter how small, its still UP bonus.
