Why? Scamming, while frowned heavily upon, isn't against the rules. Game admin has said, NUMEROUS times that cash trades are not guaranteed or protected against - caveat emptor.
Why don't you just yell at sean for being so easily duped out of his account? it takes two to tango.

No it isn't against the rules, but it is against the law. The admin doesn't really want people in the game that have no respect for others. Scamming is just done by people that can't make their own account and believe they are smart for STEALING. If he is in the same country as you report it to the police, I would.

as chargin said its agaist the law to scam people or steal things, so why does admin let this go on?
surley they do not wish to be harbouring criminals on there games that go around stealing things yes it maybe a game but well if a guy come to buy your car take it for a test drive and doesnt come back and then the police turn around and said we cant do any thing about it sorry. it be like eh!?!?!

i agree i never got that rule by admin it makes no sense
theres been alot of bad judgements on his part throughout the games history and its time i think for him to stop it
cos its getting to the people who trust others and then find themselves cast in the dirt for trust....that is one of the main reason the world is in the state it is...it doesnt pay to be good

Well I guess admin decided to let players "deal" with it when it happens, ie sitting on the acount to never let it rebuild, though I don't see how scammed person can be helped there

actually we cant know if he got scammed. posting someone messages or making screeens isnt the prove. this can be changed in the minute.

*points to the warning ingame*
Black Market Note wrote:Note: This functionality was added because of many many many reports of 'scamming' on trades. Goods promised, not delivered. Payments sent, later canceled. Promises of future actions never taken, and so on. ALL official trades are made WITHIN the game.If you make trades outside of this market, the game administration takes NO responsibility for the results. All trades outside of this market are now considered 'black market' trades, and are protected by nothing - you open yourself up to the above mentioned scams that some people work very hard to lure other players into. Please use your judgement, and - if you take a risk and try to trade outside the game - be prepared to lose everything and accept it.
If you get scammed...admin isnt obliged to do anything.
Furthermore, there is even a disclaimer in the "Currency trades" part of the forums.
Currency Trades Section wrote:Forum rules
NOTE: Kingdom Games, StarGateWars, the forum admin, the game admin, TAKE ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR CURRENCY TRADES outside of the game itself. We simply cannot monitor/validate/track/prove/disprove/confirm or deny the details, or if they happened.
Many are scams - and just because they are here, or are by recognizable players/people, does not change this.
IF YOU TRADE FOR REAL CURRENCY, AND GET SCAMMED OR DONT GET WHAT YOU THOUGHT YOU SHOULD, WE CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP YOU, so do not even ask...The answer is "Sorry. We cannot help you. You just lost your money."

Admin had two choices since he didn't have the time to deal with all the rubbish he was getting over these "trades" it was either ban all these "trades" or accept no liability himself, he's given the warnings that he wont get involved, it's not that he wants the cheats but he just doesn't have the time, which of his two options would you have preferred?

Because admin has stated before (and other people have already pointed it out to you many times) that the only cash trades that he guarantees is the ingame black market. He's also got a big ol' disclaimer on the currency trades forums that states he will not be held responsible for any currency trades outside of the ingame black market. He doesn't get involved with it because how is he supposed to know who's telling the truth? Screen shots/convos can be faked, so instead of getting in the middle of that, he's said buyer beware. It's not like people scamming people is a new thing in the SGW community, it's been happening since the game started. People should know that they can get scammed and ripped off with cash trades and admin won't help them out no matter what evidence they have.
Sure, it's morally wrong, but within the rules of this site. Forum has absolved himself in this matter. You can take the issue to PayPal, and they will tell you that you aren't eligible for a refund. You can also take the issue to your local police department, but depending on the localities of the two persons involved, I would doubt they'd be able to do anything to you. Your example of the test driving a car was a bad one, as before you drive off the lot in the test drive, you've got to sign a contract, and I'm sure they've accounted for the possibility of someone just driving away.
It basically comes down to while it stinks your friend got scammed, it's not against the rules of this game. It takes two people conduct a trade, so your friend is also partially responsible for himself getting scammed. You shouldn't do any cash trades without trusting the other party as admin won't do anything.
Lastly, I reccomend your friend to learn the meaning of these two words: caveat emptor
Yelling and moaning about the scammers' account getting punished/banned will just be a waste of your time and will most likely result in you getting pwned by myself and others here in this thread.

It's not fair, it's not nice, it's not honorable. But it isn't against the rules either.
Lesson: Trust no one.
