An Important Question

In response to a question, of what do I bring to the position of Ombudsman if elected ?

There has been a significant amount of conflict over choosing the new Ombudsman. Some of witch to be expected, considering the times. Aside from all of that, I have read and learned much about our nominees our forum and its users. We are all very original , opinionated, intelligent and sometimes obscure individuals. Who are dedicated , motivated, and are very passionate about this game and forum.

The above adjectives are what I value most about all of you. I value the candor , humor and intellect witnessed in this forum. I thank you all for challenging any of my preconceived notions , making me smile and laugh every day. I also want to thank you for opening my eyes to international differences and ideals. I would not be here and my game would be very dull and boring without you all.

Having said that, In the roll of Ombudsman where if given the opportunity I would hope to have you trust that I appreciate you for who you are. Know that I understand and appreciate your individuality and expression of self. In turn , allow me the distinct honor of arbitrating on your behalf to ensure your freedoms and self expression.

Now, please understand that I have a deep respect for the rules of this forum. They are there for a reason, to protect us and anyone who might visit from insults, inappropriate content and any negative emotional experience. Experiences which would cause players , or parents of players to be less likely to participate in this valued aspect of the game. The above should go without saying but said any way to express my views.

If elected Ombudsman I hope to achieve balance for you and forum. While respecting and protecting the sanctity of both parties. I expect maturity, reflection and open mindedness from both parties as issues are tabled.

In regards to bias, most know and the rest will learn that I see us as a whole and without tags. We are a group of humans who enjoy a commonality despite our differences and we can work together for a common goal of a great forum regardless of any tag or loyalty.

I wil keep it short ,

My vision of the task at hand is a neutral negotiator .

Some one that has the posibility to see both sides of the fence and has the capebility of braking a stailmate.

The OM wold not be the ultimate powerhouse that can override a mod's disision but is simply there to advise the forum user and mod on disisions made , giving a new fresh vieuw on the subject that the participating partys do not see.

I see you asking , wat is the OM if he can not override a mod disision , lets just say , there is more then one way to Rome .

Im sorry I respectfully disagree the OM should not have the power to nor should they need to have the authority to override the mod's decision. With respectful communications and understanding any issue should be able to be resolved to satisfy both parties. Such authority negates the roll of mod and is not defined by the term ombudsman.

You may just of read it wrongly , i actually agree with you , the OM wold NOT have the power to overrule a mod disision , he wold however have to power to ask for a vote from the modteam to see if the majority of the team finds the disision correct and fair.

I simply wanted to answer the many pm's I got all at once :) asking the same question. I dont think its propaganda to answer a question that actually should have been asked from the start and is more relevant than most I have read about the issue.

sry If I misunderstood your first post, my bad

I to have had lots of people asking how to get to the voting thread. Smoosh has been very timely with giving access once access has been requested.

I believe that the ombudsman should settle disputes between community and player.

He should therefore, have the power to override the mods if needed. But should send a report to an admin after action is taken.

I've made my posts regarding this...Others seem to think a book is required, but the job is actually simple.

Mod gives warning, player objects, ombudsman decided....decision stands. Admin reviews.

I also believe that alliance tags have no business in this job...period. I'll work with friends, enemies, and neutrals.

I'm not saying that everyone will always agree with my decisions, but I can say that i'll do my best.
