Question about MS

Question: Is it worth a small player buying a MS?
If they don't have one, they never engage the enemy MS when attacking.
As long as they have a bigger natural strike then the biggest natural def they can hit anyone.
If they just get a large covert and large strike, with the limitation for poli kills it means there is actually no need for them ever to keep a def themselves.
with a 0 def means it also renders the enemies MS strike useless as well.
So to this end, it seems to make sense never to build one

Not exactly true. Even if their strike is bigger than the def, the opponents MS is still adding up to 100% to their def. So basically they would need 200% of the biggest def in strike.
And 0 def means they can be ACed easily and sabbed afterwards. With a huge strike I wouldn't really recommend that

then i guess I found yet another bug!
my MS was more then capable of defending me, yet it failed everytime to someone without one (and their strike was only just over my def)
you should know more then anymore AC'ing at this point in time is pretty difficult as everyone goes mad for spy levels to sab...
If i keep atleast 1 spy level ahead of you and dump loads into covert techs and a nice number of spies AC'ing is not likely (not that i am a level ahead of you, just an example)
Also on another note, attack logs with an MS are completely incorrect,
someone attacks me with 3.9bil MS attack, I defend with 1 bil MS defence
their MS adds 120mil to their ground troops...how does that work
i don't think the attack is wrong, just the text displayed in the log.

Ms's can only add as much as the natural strike or defense.

i was ranked 1 in attack, and tried to attack someone who had MS. and my natural attack was bigger than his defense. and.. that MS came in support and ruined my 15 turns and damaged a lot my weps. MS has it's own purpose in the game. when you attack those who don't have one, fear is all over

Using your theory of play (large covert and large strike) then a MS would be almost a necessity. Because in Quantum, it seems a MS can never be completely destroyed (it just goes down to a minimum level of shields and volleys) you would want to purchase one just to have your minimally equipped MS engage the attackers MS. The reason being is that if your MS engages an attacker's MS, their MS will have to engage yours in return. Their MS cannot do anymore damage to your MS, (since it is at the Minimal levels) but accordingly, their MS had to expend all its efforts on your MS, and does not add anything to the ground attack of your planetary forces, or your "natural" defense. If you plan to engage using your theory of large covert and large strike, the minimally equipped MS would be absolutely required to prevent the attackers MS from adding to their overall attack, meaning you can then go head to head with their natural attack you could have gauged from prior covert activities, or just kept the number one defense. To insure the successful defend the MS would be a requirement, so still something to aspire to have.
I still believe we should be able to completely destroy a MS preventing smaller players (ala idiot...) and others from just joining the game to be nusciances, although I guess in any situation where you can attack without regards to the dire consequences, there will always be "idiots" who can play with reckless abandon. Were they to be subject to a retaliation that could completely destroy their MS (in this wave a VERY expensive consequence), their desire to attack well above their rank and means would be curbed to a reasonable level.

My Mothership uses its Nuclear Volley to inflict 1,369,120,000 damage, destroying 10 Energy Shields on Devastation VII!
Blowing through the defenses, it also destroyed 6 Energy Volley!
The Mothership has exhausted all of its offensive power.
*********uses its Energy Volley to inflict 875,600,000 damage, destroying 9 Energy Shields on My Mothership!
The Mothership has exhausted all of its offensive power.
so this is what you mean? MS MS went against theirs and even though it out powered their MS added nothing to the groud troops

Yes.
They both 'exhausted' all their power on each other.
Normally one is considerably more powerful and adds what remains of its power to atk/def.

To be honest i'm finding it hard to believe none of you guys seem to have the slightest idea how MS's actaully work, lol.
I know Destroyer knows how they work and it's hardly rocket science, but the rest of you...lol

So explain it Scar.
Since Destroyer pointed out the same as I did.

It's not strike vs def only. Strike vs def + strike, and whatever is left is added to strike, up to 100% of 'natural strike'.
Same as in Main, just with 50% instead of 100

u sure about that 50%?
my MS always doubles my attack and defence.
but then again i've a very special relationship with my mothership.

The Mothership has exhausted all of its offensive power.
yeah nice pointing out the stupudly obvious...but my MS was still fully armed, so basically is means My MS did **Filtered** all even though it passed his def

My MS is a sexy beast which makes my def and strike twice what they normally are against almost everyone...
Just cos your MS beats theirs doesn't mean it will add power...it has to beat it by A LOT. I don't know the maths behind it, but i know the general concept.
