Login problems

Not a bug as such (which is why I've put it here!)......

Over the last couple of days I've had to wipe my hard drive and reinstall everything onto my PC - due to some damned adware latching on and evading all attempts at removal.

However - I now cannot login to the game via my PC (although I can using my mobile).

I keep getting the 'browser error, cannot determine referrer page' message. I get this for IE and Firefox, despite following the instructions to overcome it, i.e:

INTERNET EXPLORER 6
This can be done from the computer's Control Panel > Internet Options, or from within the browser Tools > Internet Options.

Click Security.
Click Trusted Sites then Sites.
Add *.stargatewars.com website address in the box provided and click Add.
Uncheck the box that requires https verification.
Click the Privacy tab (Medium is an acceptable setting on the slider, but click Sites and again enter your website address)
Now click Allow.
Click Apply.
This has only altered settings for your website and this does not otherwise affect your browsing.

FIREFOX, NETSCAPE

Type about:config in the URL address bar.
A large collection of alphabetically listed information will appear in the browser window.
Search for network.http.sendRefererHeader.
By default, this should be set at 2.
If it is set to 0 - which disables sending referrers - right click it, select Modify and enter 2 as the value.
If that doesn't work, try a value of 1
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Network.http. ... ererHeader for more information.

I'm using Orange mobile broadband on my PC - which is what I was using (and successfully logging into SGW with) beforehand.

I'm now at my wits end trying to resolve it - any ideas?

it's not a bug, it's because you are trying to link to one of the game pages rather than log in through the log in page.

Kinda hard to explain...

lets say you log in on your mobile, you then go to your main PC and click your favoutires/Bookmark to drop you straight to the Base screen in game, it will not work, you will get referrer error message and none of the instructions will help.

Basically change your bookmark/favourites to http://www.stargatewars.com/

Log in via that and you should be fine, if for example you had http://www.stargatewars.com/base.php as your bookmark, no luck, you will get referrer error every time.

Wolf, you might want to try using Firefox or Opera. If you can login with either of those two browsers, then the problem is your original browser, and not your computer/ISP.

Trust me - it's not that - I'm not linking to a game page. The Orange mobile broadband is simply a USB receiver that employs the mobile broadband network (it's not connecting via a mobile phone) all actions are done via the PC (and worked perfectly previously).

Yeah - I also get it for Firefox (mentioned in first post). Can't undersatnd it.

Are you running an AntiVirus or Firewall?

Yes - but the problem occurs whether they are enabled or not (and they're setup with the same settings I had previously).

so your not getting the page to load at all? I think it could be a dns issue... I had this for a long time with aol...

it might be worth checking that if the same problem happens with ascended/chaos etc...

Fixed - after adjusting firewall privacy control settings - which is strange in itself because I'd already tried that to no effect and they were exactly as they were peviously when I could login.

Meh - all done now.
