Power Differences

It's a daft question, but i've trawled though the forums, with nothing that really explains it.

Right.
I'm attacking people that have a DA around a Trillion less than my SA. On the attack screen it says the *Edit: power multiplier* is 60%. I attack, and I fail.
I'm probably being really dense, but can someone please explain this to me as I can't get my head around it, or link me to the appropiate thread.

Thanks, Jutah.

the power multiplier is calculated between your stat rank and theirs-if those are close then it compares other ranks as well.

For example, a rank 100 strike will (probably) get about a 60% modifier attacking a rank 1200 defense. (regardless of what the actual stats are). Ranks are recalculated every turn. The limits for modifiers you will get are 60%-130%.

If you multiply your strike by the attack modifier you'll see what your strike would actually be. for example:

5 quad strike * 60% = 3 quad strike
5 quad strike * 130% = 6.5 quad strike

As far as you not being able to find information-well, ascended is sort of a closed society-there isn't much of a guide out there. But feel free to ask in the forums and you'll likely get a decent answer. If you're lucky you might actually get one from someone who knows what they're talking about (i.e. not me-I make no assertions as to the correctness of my post).

That makes a lot of sense. My SA is pretty damn high tbh. So I get lots of 60% mods. That explains why I have difficulty at times. Everyone focuses on defense, there are greater rank differences....

What an annoying modifier.

sell your strike weapons before the turn and after the turn buy them back.

That will get your strike rank down very low to get you between 100-130% modifier on your hits.

the same applies with any other rank.

Yeah, its an old trick everyone uses to maintain a 130% bonus. You would think after being told so many times how useless it is that Jason would have reconcidered it by now.

Never liked exploiting tricks like that much. So much hassle.

concidering jason has been told repeatedly and asked by all types of players from across the game to get rid of it, he has not changed it so it technicly is not an exploit. If you choose not to use it, its your call.

its not really an exploit... and it really isn't much hassle considering the incredibly cheap costs of weapons...

I could mention the low sab amounts on ascended...

500million weapons and a sab takes approx 10million... considering the cost of weapons and the amount of naq generated per turn there should be a larger amount sabbed... thats like 2% or so...
