Or better said, the obsession/fetish of *passing itself as "a force of good"* to its gulable populus.

I`m noting an increasingly humorous desire by western govermnets to sell themselves as "righteouss" and the "good guys" in a black/white world. Wich, to my dismay and amusement actually bares fruit with some less "educated"/informed induviduals.

To recap:

We in the West dislike dictaturships because of obvious moral reasons. (Dictators we placed in power or those that are pro-western or sell us oil are an obvious & "necesary" exemption).

We combat terorists all over the globe. (Exept those we train and arm to fight our rivals... unless they turn on us aswell that is. Nvm the fact that we created them in the first place and that we created/continue to create circumstances that cause its flourishing).

We strive so secure our inalienable rights to security, life, dignity & seoveirnty. (To achieve them we violate all of those to many all over the globe).

We adamantly oppose state arming and development & accuisition of weapons that threathen the world fragile balance of political power. (As long as we`re the ones that get to withdrawl/ignore (post) cold war agreements and push forward with testing and stuff like balistic missle interceptors placed practically on borders of other super powers. Dont put stuff on Cuba or this side of Urals thoe, we don`t like that.)

We firmly believe in the power of diplomacy (we can fabricate proof there). Rattling with weapons is a domain of unfree regiemes (these days a combined anglo-franco-american fleet is conducting drills in the gulf (brimstone operation). Coincidentaly rumours of a naval blocade of Iran are ripe, only issue is that that consititutes a declaration of war according to international law - but who honestly cares about IL right?).

We firmly believe in the rule of (our) law, due process and basic rigts for (some) detainees. (As long we have sole juristiction over our citizens and we get to (re)define what such abstract legal notions as "combatants", "toruture", "Geneva convention", etc. actually mean. Cour rulings we don`t like, we circumvent.)

We strongly condemn human rights violations and recuction in other powers. (we have our populus scared wittles to a point they give away their rights freely and those without our passports matter not anyways. East European secret prisons&Guantanamo like institutions on "no mans land" for them. + if a place of violation is not rich wih tnatural resources, strategically important to us or just a chance to "stick it up" to a rival we dont care. Sry Darfur.)

We are pro separation state from religion, we`d like to see secular regiemes all over the world. (Religion & traditional christian values just happen to be in the forefront of the elections of numerous of our leaders. The fact they later get "inspired by god" to "conduct crusades" has no bearing on the matter).

We are pro free elections in the world (as long as we like the result). We honestly clasify elections in those nations as "fair/unfair". (In Russia for instance elections are unfair since they gravitate towards the know side. Completly unlike the profesionall unpartisan western media that "informed" us into 2 wars. Italy where Berlusconi actually owns all the media is sui generis aswell.)

We are pro nations choice. (Unless they`re trying to seceede teritory from us & if those nations are pro us. Like kosovo. Speaking of Balkans, we`re also keeping the BiH federation together.)
So:
In the week of the start of the olympic games in China leaders were calling for boycott and people are liting candles for a free Tibet. (On the day of the opening western sponsored and equped Georgia, previosuly promissed mebership in the (former defensive turn offensive) organization NATO, rolled its armies into (one of) its 18 year de facto independant province(s) of Ossetia. A province it has little historical and next to no ethnical claim to at this point. 1 problem thoe, it is pro Russian, unlike the K place. 100s of casulties in the ensuing fights when russia sent its forces in NATO-balkans style. Noone lit a candle for them, US and UK blocked a UN SC resolution however. Dont ask, its just "different". Top media story: Russia INVADES Georgia. Funny that eh.).

We are alergic to any injustice in the world. To correct our historical blunders (wich we normaly dont recognise) we srtive to make due. (We issue appologies to peoples and nations we conducted genocides agiants provided noone says the g word. You know, the ppl running the casinos or that brown auzzies). We for instance created Izrael for the historically opressed nation of the Jews. (And we block any concrete UN resolutions about the zionistic state treatment of its concentration camp called "Gaza Strip".)

Nationalism is tabu. So 20th century. So worth of condemnation. (We are just fiercly "patriotic" and our armies and nations are the "greatest in the world". But not all of us. Germans permanently lost that "privelage" for instance heh).

Now is it just me or does saying all that outloud at once make us sound just as big of a "plicks" as all those we LOVE to frown uppon are?

Russia & China (that seem to be favorite punching bags) atlest dont insult the intelect of their citizens by painting themselves a holly aura and then listing all that oppose (and that can be pushed around) on a "axis of evil" - wich imvho happens to be the very cherry on the "boy u guys r stupid & easy to manipulate" cake we seem to be served on a daily basis.

i think the main problem from which all the little problems you list- stem from is the fact we have given professional politicians WAAAAAY to much trust so we can have a life of luxury and we have ALL grown mentally lazy and disconnected from each other.
where once the family unit and immediate community were the core of of the local community's we now mainly live in big city's cut off from each other and to preoccupied with our immediate concerns/wants and to busy to make the time to look whats happening around us and the world we live in and we have delegated the running of our respective nations to professional politicians.
this is a grievous mistake and we now live in a very dangerous time when things will get worse from here on in...

if (and i believe its coming and much sooner than people realize) an economic collapse comes the first industry's to go will be the trucking/shipping industry, if that happens, how will people live when all the food on the shelves is gone?
we will resort to cannibalism in just a few days because we have forgotten how to live, farm and survive and as i said, have grown mentally lazy.

we should all be ashamed that WE the people allowed this to happen

a majority rule means that 49% of people DON'T have a voice and no one understood this better than americas founding fathers which is why they have a constitution, bill of rights and a declaration of independence and formed a republic, but they dont teach americn kids the constitution and they sure as hell don't teach them that they live in a republic, every single mainstream news outlet and school keeps telling americans that they live in a democracy...

I like your post brdavs, Im a westerner myself, and I, for the most part disagree with american politicians take on terrorism, not because of my anaylis of facts, but because of my own idealogy of america. Tis a sad event that is happening and I hope that some day americans will wake up and see truth in what is happening to our own country, and stop sticking our noses in the affairs of others.

good and evil are but points of view. They are ideas used for propoganda, used to gain power.

The image of the west being the force of good, is one needed too keep the favour of their people when moving, willing, into a negative series of actions (war, arguments ((that sounds feeble)) and all other sort of things) if they maintain to be good, it keeps clear conscience and makes what would be to us, acts of evil, be for the greater good.

If a priest kills in the name of god, a small helpless girl when he is told to do so by terrorist's to save a million lives? An act of evil, or for the greater good? Should the priest be punished? Or not?

Were the Jedi really good? Does protecting the weak and innocent really make you good?

Or do we let all these concepts ideas and plays morality interfere with what is really right?

Back to the point..well I think my opening paragraph sums it all up.

i couldnt agree more with you mate, trouble is as i said, these are professional politicians we have placed in power and they do not serve the common good but instead serve the corporations, globalist agendas (which is self evident with the creation of the EU and now the NAU or north american union and the push for a global carbon tax) and the international gangster bankers....

another common misconception is that many people think war is prolife when in fact it is destructive, even when the evidence of this is staring us in the face people refuse to see it and instead think we are fighting to restore freedom when in fact no such freedom exists even at home, you only have to look at the amount of surveillance cameras in central london to understand this.
london has more cameras per square mile than any other city in the world and we tolerate this intrusion of privacy without question...

if our own state is watching us without cause, reason or justification and we cant have a free society at home then how do we expect to spread freedom round the world!?

@Liquid - Your making it far more complex then it really is, Avenger is correct. Their is only two forms of goverment.

1.) The people are the masters, the goverment is their servant.

2.) Goverment is the master, the people are their servants.

Those are the basic elements behind every LABEL of goverment.
