I found out a while ago that clearing private data (Ctrl+Shift+Delete) will reduce memory usage (although you lose saved passwords and history). You might also want to try removing some add-ons, and see what that does.

My FF only uses about 45 MB RAM, and also 0 CPU, well, most of the time. It's not as though it has much to do while I'm looking at Task Manager... FF probably uses CPU when I'm opening a web page, or when I'm typing in this thread, but it's little enough that it's all done when I get to Task Manager.

My FF is using about 110 MB and I have 15 tabs open...
