Well come on then! Who!!!

Some of the most influential and memorable villains of all time.

I am not saying purely who will defeat who, or who is the most memorable, or who is the most evil, or even who did the worst. I am saying who is all of the above!

You can pick your top 3!

I chose Hannibal, mainly because he was based prolly on several real serial killers. The likes of John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, Ed Kemper, Richard Ramirez, and Jeffrey Dahmer. And of course Son of Sam. While they are all different in the types of serial killings, I wouldn't doubt that there is a piece of each of them in the character of Hannibal Lector.

Ben Linus, naturally.. although "villain"? Somehow I think there's far more to him than 'villainy', but since that's not the question, I simply include him and comment no further.
He just looks funny. :? That face of his kind of scares me sometimes.

Agent Smith, rebelling against everything that creates and maintains order, he is the very embodiment of chaos and hatred. Whether that is 'villainy', I am not really sure, but since generally "order" is "good", I will assume that "chaos" is "bad", and Agent Smith is, aside from being a multidimensional character the likes of which are scarce, chaotic. So yes, second on mah list.
Hugo Weaving could've done better.. but he gives the character a well matched face.

Magneto. Who could ignore the man who can bend minds with the same ease he manipulates any metal with.. who could ignore the only one to achieve complete dun möch outside of the Star Wars universe. Who could ignore the man who could melt the Man of Steel?! To me, he is an ultimate villain.
And Ian McKellen is brilliant.

well I would not really consider Ben a villain either, but apparently he is. lol.

I wouldnt really consider Voldemort a villain, he is a bit of a pathetic excuse for one...

i'd say joker, in the case of Heath Ledger's impression of him. quite twisted.

palpatine, because he seemed soooo good and he turned out so ebil.....

sauron.... well.... yha.... because he is sauron..... the eye was cool..... :P

I voted for the Joker, but from the sheer number of works he's been the villain in, I'd have to go with Lucifer.

i'ma have to object. Sephiroth is definately the top pick for evilest villain.

then i have to agree Magneto and the Joker.

It has to be the greatest intergalatic villain of them all...

Palpatine! His Quest to make himself imortal! His Corruption of minds around him young and old, His Evil Ploy to take over the very universe! ANd he shoots lightening out his hands...I mean seriously...Would you rather be a big magnet head, Or shoot lightning? 8)

Voldemort was quite feindish, SO he comes on at number 2... and yet again, the whole takeing over the world thing really helps.

Freddy Kruger Comes in at number 3, For simply being freakin evil! Seriously, I didnt sleep for several days after, Litterally........

Thats what i think, from that List anyway...

*somehow sticks to the list, but is twitching*

where is Davros? I dont think creating the Daleks is enough to get you on that list....after all the daleks would be thought of first, not Davros save to the die hard Dr Who fans.

BTW...I voted The Joker, certainly legendary, self proclaimed agent of chaos.

Darth Vader, Not a villain as such, but he is considered the second baddest bad ass in the world just behind hannibal lecter and he is pretty god dam evil until the end there.

Thirdly I went for Benjamin Linus, he is a more up to date Hannibal Lecter with the fantasy twist, whilst not being so bloody flawed lol...

not necessarily die hard

i'm certainly not die hard, but i know that Davros created the Daleks

if u are the creator of monsters and use them to exterminate, that makes you a villain in my books

of the choice its gotta be the emperor. hes well old so hes experienced and knows what hes doing. he got mad skills!

what about randall flagg aka Walter o'Dim aka Marten Broadcloak aka Richard Fannin aka John Farson etc. . .
hes is seriously evil, scary, and has abilities. not big flash showy abilities, but subtle and effective ones. randall flag is hardcore :-D
