A Jamaican just broke Donovan Bailey's speed record in the Olympics by 1/10th of a second.

He's brilliant, that guy.
And really, such an improvement on the World Record is incredible.

He just leapt away from them all..

At the end of the race, the guy even slowered his speed to watch the public before he reaches the line!

It was supposed to be Usain Bolt (Jam), Asafa Powell (Jam) and Tyson Gay (USA) battling it out in the final for 1st but Tyson Gay did terrible in the semi finals and Asafa Powell was having difficulties with his nerves.

A little extra info:

Asafa Powell equalled the record and broke his own world record twice after that.
Usain Bolt broke that record and so did Tyson Gay.

Usain Bolt ran the WR in 9.69 secs but he slowed down before the finish, if he ran through all 100m flat out he would have run it in about 9.61 or 9.62 but he doesn't want to do that. In the Olympics you don't get money for a WR, he probably wants to get the record again in another Tournament where they pay tend to pay over 150 thousands or so dollars.

Wait, no mention of Michael Phelps and the 8 gold medals in a single Olympics? I mean, sure he's an American, but still...

He just got the 8th like 30 mins ago..

I saw him get his eighth before I saw Bolt run. And people were talking about Bolt, so I assumed they had seen Phelps already.

Ya I think I was wrong about that... I guess I was just seeing a re-run of it or something..

The 100meter final was 1 or 2 days before Phelps's 8th

I have to admit, he was gambling a bit, 3 relays, I mean... He has to rely on his team mates aswell as himself. 8 Gold medals this Olympics, 13 in total, the most ever achieved by any one person, ever.

Also He broke 7 world records in the 8 events he did.

Yeah. Jason Lezak is awesome with a capital everything. It was just great that he beat the trash talker who held the world record for the freestyle distance on the last leg.
