messaging my alliance is a little aggrevating now. for some odd reason, something alters my post between me and the alliance. ' mark is changed to \' (yes, both the slash and the quote mark). originally when the 2CO made messages i thought it might have been a typo. but i just notced it now for my own post.
also when posting a link to a page on my alliance forum where it comes to the part of the URL "...viewtopic.php?f=**&t=***" (*=insert numeric digit here) it changes it to "...viewtopic.php?f=** and t=***"
no idea why.
my apologies if this topic exists already, im at college now so i dont have much time to search thru threads.

an example for reference. (numbers and content edited to ensure security of the alliance)
originally, the following were entered as:
we\'ll -> we'll
bix\'s -> bix's
php?f=** and t=*** -> php?f=**&t=***

Both of these have been happening ever since messaging was introduced.
The ' thing isn't annoying really, however the link issue is especially when you are trying to direct people to a specific thread on these forums.

I don't have any suggestions as to the link issue, but I use ` instead of ' :
` - above <TAB>, next to <1> on my keyboard. It doesn't look good, but it looks better than \'
I.e.:
PM`s doesn`t allow proper punctuation.
rather than
PM\'s doesn\'t allow proper punctuation.

The \' issue is due to either mysql_escape_string() or addslashes() being used on the way in to the database to prevent SQL injections intended to hack the database. This escaped data is then output directly instead of being passed through a correction function (stripslashes()).
