as the title says...

couple of simple rules for simple people....

1) please be as clear as possible in your description, with out taking a poke at any one( meaning, got an issue with a person or alliance, start your own thread)

2) give example (person x dose this to person y......that kinda thing)

3)and lastly, when is what could be called extortion not really extortion (if u think there is such a thing)

Extortion - Threatening some one with an action (whether physical or not) unless they pay up.

First thing that came to my mind.

ys i know, so I will recap those post:

[spoiler]Demand's for reperations/tributes to be made well in excess of costs sustained or the opponents ability to pay without jepordising their account.

Threaten to mass / destroy someone unless they get X resources off of them

Asking for rates on goods way over market rates

"Give me this, and I won't do that, if you don't give this, I'll do that"

HOWEVER, if for example an alliance demands repairs because you attacked one of their members while your alliance and the victims alliance have a NAP, it is not extorting

hen player A asks for funds that are unrealistic and causes undue hardship for player B followed by and including threats and or preemptive hostilities on player B.

Extortion is when a person is in a dominatiing position,. If you force someone into a corner and demand anything, its extortion.

war itself is a form of extortion simply by its own definition


Extortion is only one word and has been used to define many situations in game. I agree that this one word may not be appropriate for all situations and look forward to clarification on these issues.[/spoiler]

Telling a party you will harm them, defame them etc if they do not supply a service or good.

Person X tells Person Y. If you do not give me $20,000 I will tell your wife you are cheating on her and ruin your family life(blackmail). Person X says to Person Y, Give me $20,000 or I will kill your wife(extortion).

When Person X says to Person Y, Give me Y amount or Ill Z you. Or When Person X says to Person Y, Give me Y amount or Ill give person K the Z and your B will be F.

Anything else, imo, Isn't extortion.

there is no extortion. if pepole doesnt want to pay, then they can get massed and they wont pay anything. this isn not an extortion, its just busines

extortion is extortion however which way you look at it.

in game terms, it's still extortion or tribute if you're looking for a better word. but regardless of term you use, it's a valid but dishonorable tactic in war because you are preying on the weak.
