A revamp of on players rights

To the mods, YES this is a suggestion

but it's for GENERAL infomation. So keep the spam clean, but otherwise please let the people speak, and don't move it please. unless you want to upgrade the attention it gets.

Now everyone has been having this " turn lag"

and i'm sure other have suggested this.

However what i want is for people to explain why the following is a bad idea.

I would like Jason to shut down the game. I would than like him to sort thru the database on a wide range of topics. Frist being, anyone not ascended or an supporter status get's a flag.
Than within that group anyone that has under 100,000 total army size is flaged, than with in that group anyone who has not logged into the game within the past 6 months is flaged. Than i would like the removal of anyone with 3 flags! i e Delete their account.

Now after this is done, i would like to change the start up account mix, to say 2-5k turns, 100k uu and 10mil naq. So that if anyone comes back thay can just start again, but their account will be better than when they left.

This should reduce the number accounts accounts that the system needs to process each turn by 1/2 to 2/3s and thereby reduce the turn lag from 3 mins to 1 min. or less

Sounds like a good idea. :)
Did you present it to Admin yet? :-D

Interesting idea, but does the game really need to be shutdown for it? And does the accounts have to be deleted?

I think working with two lists can work. One keeps track of active accounts, the other of inactives, as described in HE's post. Add to that a low priority, once a week, crawler script that runs through the active list say on a Sunday night, flagging as it goes. If an account receives its third flag, it is moved from the active list to the inactive list.

Only the active list is ever processed. If you log in, the server checks that you're in the active list (which will be shorter). If you're not, it moves you from the inactive list to the active list, removing the third flag.

As for the passive list - they're all in vac mode, thereby still existing, but not adding to server lag.

Admin has stated a few times that he doesn't like deleting accounts because they might come back... However you cover this by stating explicitly that deleted accounts, if they return, will have more than they had previously. The only downside to returning players is that they may have lost their names - I don't see that as a problem, but will Jason?

For reference, the sorting through the database thing can be done in a single query. Yup, all of those inactives can be swept away with one line of code :o The game wouldn't even need shutting down.

So yes, a very good suggestion.

Tacet: The problem with that is that there will be a huge amount of lag for a short period of time on a Sunday that people will complain about...

there is a point here, vac mode might be better

Well essentially what Tacet is suggesting is ... visible Vac mode for them.

The one thing I find useful about the inactive accounts is that it gives beginners something to start off on, they can attack and raid and grow off them without fear of retaliation until they are well... medium sized and can then start facing some of the more aggressive ingame peoples.

Well if inactives dont get deactivated till after 6 months, then hopefully there will still be enough inactive farms for new players to practice on..

Not nesserscarily (sp?) lets face it every raider raids inactives, so there might not be enough to go around.

Might make mass raising abit more popular tho :D

M8 one thing in all this is wrong.

Those not ascended or having supporter status should not be flagged because of it. I can agree on the rest if we should take this aproach but not that ohh your not ascended flag, or your not having a supporter status Flag thats wrong.

good idea. for the points raised against:

1: Being flagged once is no problem, you need 3 flags to be deleted and the 3rd flag is due to 6 months inactivity, so it's a complete non-issue to moan about 1 flag for being non-SS/Ascended especially when you can just ascend at some stage.

2: Any reference to people going on vacation mode instead is completely missing the point, vac mode accounts are still on the database, we need accounts removed, not preserved regardless of vac mode or not.

3: Raiding/farming inactives with less than 100k army size and 6+ months inactivity is competely irrelevant, none of those accounts will be farmed or raided on any sort of regular basis, would need months to generate sufficient naq and would never generate enough UU's.

well the whole raiding thing is the biggest issue about this. most people raid inactives and you dont log in for 6 months and bam vac or delete or whatever than we lose some farm which some can live with but lets your a newer player tryin to get bigger. you goin to have to play the waiting game now or buy with cash to realy grow.

So i would say its a bad thing realy just to solve some lag issue's im sure there another way around it. and than there is so many account that is out there with very low UPs and produce next to nothing that we can all live with out. Maybe the first step is to remove some account thats been on the game for a long time that has close to nothing. Dont use the flag system cause realy dis agree with it over the removal of players.

Now if you take away all the inactive account and lets go with it solves the lag. Now Massing is goin to raise alot more. With that in mind most people are goin to mass the smaller people who can grow and odds are tryin to ascend or what ever and cant cause they keep gettin massed. Now if i was a beginner at this game and i keep gettin killed i would quite and all the fun in the game would be gone. Thus alot of new comers in the game wont make it

well some of my veiws

it whouldn`t hurt to get rid of inactive unascended people with less than 100k army, and why should massing suddenly increase because of it?
a normal player only raid when u have around 300k +++ uu out

anyone not ascended or an supporter status get's a flag.
