Easy to give your into to companies who sell it on without you being able to complaine such as pictures, stories and so on.

Same time you also allow crackers to use facebook to take over or steal from your PC or plain just put in spyware hehe reminds me why i arent there ;).

I agree - could never see the sense in facebook or myspace, don't have an account with either. Why would I like to advertise my private life on the internet!? I live in RL, and those friends who can't keep track of me without facebook ... should reconsider the friendship.

I have accounts on myspace and bebo into which I haven't signed for over many months now. I was bored. (no facebook) :P

It's also only due to persuasion from some people that I joined myspace in the first place >_> <_<

It is good only for one thing, if you want to find someone, and you know only his/her name or a specific detail like e-mail address, etc. I found a lost brother of the girlfriend of my classmate a few months ago, with the help of this community.

True that too!

A friend of mine was contacted by a half sister she knew nothing about, as her father left her when she was a little baby.

It's a good tool when used wisely.

well I have met a lot of people in my life, most of which have these online things...what is the easiest and cheapest way to keep in touch with them all?

I suppose there....Corrania that SGW is no different...save you cannot post pictures. You can chat (irc), pm, in game, play games (take your pick) socialise, keep in contact with old friends, find new ones...and old...

of course, if you do not use it for those things, a business, or some weired DARE then one has to beg the question why you still have it, or had it in the first place...if that reason has gone....get rid of it.... was that too difficult to deduce or something?

aye. that's a good reason. just not for me at the moment (the only person i'd need myspace to keep in touch with is one of my "adopted sisters", the one i don't really like. all other friends live no further than 1 hr drive)

Myspace is o.k. I got one cause my sister bugged me to make one. Plus I use it to keep in contact with people I went to school with. But Facebook sucks you can't even put any music on your page plue you have to use your real name.

I have a myspace, because it was either I make it, or my friend make it for me, and I descided I would rather have the password than him

Closest thing to a pic of me on it is a drawing in paint said mate drew. It has a pokemon in it as well. I check it tops, once every few months, if someone links me to something that requires me to log in  Then i will post random BS on a few peoples things, then leave it for the next few months..

such sites are great for staying in contact with friends, getting back in contact with friends, organizing parties and events. those are some very obvious reasons and benefits of facebook/myspace. if you disagree with me i hate you

thats far more effort and less reliable overall. with an event on a site like facebook everyone can easily see when it is, where, what, and any additional info. people can also discuss the event before hand. and after everyone can look at pics and discuss what happened.

theres also the huge political/social power of these sites. many causes (good and bad unfortunately) have found a base in them. campaigns have had success due to facebook/myspace. it gives some power back to the people as others increasingly put store in whats said by the masses online.
