New laptop!

compaq Presario C700
2GB RAM
dual core 1.8GHz Intel Pentium Something
160GB HD
I'm trapped using Vista Home Premium for a few days, until I have the time to set this thing up properly... that is, with Linux, XP and maybe keep Vista on a little partition...
So far Vista runs fine. It strikes me as odd how the interface miraculously now more resembles the KDE/Linux interface I've worked so long with than Windows XP ever did... just the subtle little things, that were never part of windows before, but are there now... things only an Insane Linux Russian like myself would notice
Vista is actually not all bad... SP1... works fine, for now... then again I'ven't looked at CPU or memory usage
But whatever... more in-depth analysis and better setting up to come soon...
Also this means I'm now back to actively playing SGW. Feel free to mass me, id 21616

mine has the webcam and microphone built in.
As for retina scanner...I presume you mean the wireless scanning system, not the actualy scan ones eye technology.

This is actually Lappy IV
Lappy III is still working fine, it's just immobile because if I breathe on it wrong the power jack will go out and kill it.
Lappy III has 1920x1200, it is nice
I used to not remember that it was that, confusing it for other similar combinations of numbers. But then I took a razor and I carved "1920x1200" into my left arm, and now it's there and I don't not remember and forget it anymore, knowing it and having it remembered, known and having ammed are to it now.
Lappy II has crappy touchpad problems... I can overcome them by patching the Linux drivers for the touchpad, but with windows on it that system is basically unuseable...
Lappy I is really really old, and laying in pieces on my desk and chair and floor and shelves and maybe some of it under my bed. It suffered from the same power jack problem before I took it apart...
Lappy I was a Compaq presario of ancientness though, Lappy III was a Dell Inspiron 9100...
Lappy II was an Inspiron 4100, a good system... her only flaw was the passthrough eraser-tip pointing device in the middle of the keyboard; gets stuck and wreaks havoc on the pointer. Other than that she still runs fine...
But no, Waxy, sorry, you don't get Lappy III
I still have use for it... as long as I don't make any sudden movements...

It's 2 AM, I have to be up in 4 hours to drive several hundred miles, and I haven't properly slept for a while now. Also I feel like crap. So, goodnight
EDIT: As for the vista bootloader I was thinking of just copying it with dd or something... that might not work though... maybe a repair CD or some such... there was a fixmbr utility in XP repair CDs...

My laptop has a little port on it where you can plug it into an air force base and it takes over guidance systems of nukes...

Lol Actually you can install Vista first if you like the bootloader wont be **Filtered** if you then install Linux last. correct XP cant be last but beside that Vista and Linux can handle it for the rest in the test i have done.
Beside that Vista EWWWWW Linux, Mac or XP YES lol.
