ADMIN HIJACK OF FIRST POST:

Hello,
Recently we had an issue preventing some people from logging into the game. (as referenced below).
Previosly, I have had a 'rule of thumb' that if the game is out for 3+ hours, I provide some server wide PPT.
In this case, as far as I can tell, the issue lasted from 3 to 4 hours in length, for most people (not all).

Additionally, in order to fix the issue promptly, I had to work off not-my-normal computer...a lot of the tools/scripts I usually use were not available to me.

So - I made a judgement call. My choices, as I saw them, were:
1) try to PPT, while taking into account that some people WERE active, and attacking, etc during the 'inaccessible to most' time...
Also taking into account that to PPT would not be 'instant' and some people would get on before I could manually update things.
Also taking into account that doing mass server updates 'on the fly' without a tested script, run the chance of breaking things that were not broken before...
2) call it close enough to the 3hour time, especially since not everybody was affected, or at least not for the full time period, and deal with any exceptions on a case by case basis via email.

All things weighed, I wish there were never an issue
But - seeing as there was, I opted for #2 as the safest, and likely fairest, resolution.

I do apologize for anyone who felt they got the 'short end' of the stick, and for the inconvienience overall. In this case, though, I did the best I could to get things fixed and back in play, fairly to everyone, with the lowest risk of making anything worse.

yes th luckies that were online had a good profit by farming, either way a 12 hrs ppt should have been in place

I was able to get on and bank without being hit but I totally understand those who where not able and feel for those who had to go to work. Maybe we could hear from admin and understand how he makes these decisions and possibly see if new procedures can be put in place.

Maybe when the server goes down it automatically sets a ppt but the moment you log in the ppt turns off also you could have a required time to log in of like 10hrs. Allowing you to bank when you get on but not causing the enrire server to go on ppt and hence slowing the game.

P.S. I don't know about programming so my suggestion may be impossible but I am just giving a thought

Yeh i was one of those not able to log on and now finally got on just to see that others has been farming me while i still couldn't go on because of the error pretty annoying.

Jason I believe said that SGW will receive server-wide ppt's when the game goes down for 3 hours, or more only.

I don't know how long the game went down, I was writing a midterm and already on ppt *shrugs*

free game, no one forces you to play, nor do you need to pay to play

complaints go to wow, not to sgw

and i'm sure that anything you can say, i.e. it would not benefit just a few for the farm fest after it's up again, jason already knows so you can save your breath saying it in the first place

Game was down from 12am to 4-5pm gmt+1..

In that case jim, Maybe he forgot to switch the switch that turns free ppt on, In the free game, ya know the one he lets us play for free...

It's a game that is available for free - things happen!

Don't see how it warrants a free PPT. It's simply more evidence of the 'let's have everything as easy as possible' and 'want something for nothing' culture.

You are in the farmfest right? From what i read it isnt too hard to farm it back

Perhaps if you where not in this war you would still have it

Game went down for more then 3 hours. I was there and online till 5:12, then it booted me. I was awake till 9:00.

Yes, he is. But people lost MORE then just naq. Some players lost duals, (I know quiet a few) and others lost PPT naq which they wouldn't have missed.

Stuff happens.. like the big guys said.. live with it.

I think the reason the PPT was not given was because the game was still online during those 5 hours. You just could not log on.
