How do I get mercs?

Ok, so I'm a n00b but................
How do I get mercs?
I cant seem to find out how to get those bad boys. I have only purchased one merc upgrade and am wondering if that has something to do with it.
I cant see anywhere in the the market/trading page where I can get them. Please help, I suck

Have you heard of the Mystical Scroll of
Search?
It's a magical spell that lets you see if others have posted the same thing as you!
And..its under marketplace. Near the top you'll find "Go to merc market" or something like that
