In American English homophobia is a reference to an irrational fear of homosexuals, similar to racist behaviour.


I do not know if you speak American English as your first language or not...but in any case you are quite wrong.


Fear of man (fear of humans) is referred to as: Hominophobic


As in Hominid, the scientific term for any human. Past, present, or future.



Though, I do not dispute that it makes far more sense for homophobia to be fear of humans.
