SO anyone a fan of his? My favourates Are -
Original Assault on Precint 13
The Thing
Prince of Darkness
And of course...Escape from New York.
And They Live has a place in my heart too.
His films are so filled with social Satire and clever inuendo, Its a genuine shame he is not as world acclaimed and hailed as other directors who have endless budgets at there disposal. Although that being said, Ghosts of Mars was mostly trash...but again, Clever Social Commentary was involved.

he has done some good ones, but not really consistent enough in quality like a spielberg.

I quite liked his depiction of vamps in his film naturally titled Vampires.
Nice use of many of the myths etc.
Yeah if he had better budgets he could do more with his films, but i dunno, he might go crazy with the money and ruin em instead. difficult thing to call that

This is true, Some directors are much better on a smaller budget, John carpenter i feel, would be much the same as George Romero if he got his hands on a big budget, Land of the dead was probally the poorest of all his films...
...He went back to lower budget (not by much though...) in diarys, and i felt that was a really clever film.
Some are just better when they are cheaper. Weather that is a good thing or not i dont know!

The Thing is an absolute classic, The original Assault on Precinct 13 was very good too but he also made a lot of crap like Ghosts of Mars so I would not watch a movie just because he directed it.

Ghosts of Mars - CRAP
Vampires - CRAP
Escape From L.A. - So bad it's actually quite amusing
Village of the Damned - CRAP
In the Mouth of Madness - Havent seen it
Body Bags - Havent seen it
Memoirs of an Invisible Man - CRAP
They Live - Unusual, I kinda liked it but wouldn't watch it again
Prince of Darkness - Havent seen it
Big Trouble in Little China - Liked it when I was young but saw it as an adult and had to turn it off it was so bad, so I guess good for kids
Starman - Red means stop, green means go, yellow mean go VERY fast lol I liked this one
Christine - CRAP
The Thing - Brilliant, his best work. I first watched it on a B&W telly I had in my room as a kid ( showing my age ) and it was even better that way ( or maybe just seems better again watching it as a kid )
Escape From New York - Same as the LA one, just a bit of a laugh
The Fog - I liked this one
Elvis - Havent seen it
Halloween - Classic
Assault on Precinct 13 - Very good, far far better than the remake
Someone's Watching Me - Havent seen it
Dark Star - Over-rated, some funny bits but mostly crap
Bit of mixed bag, moments of brilliance, moments of the completely choking and everything in between. Like I said I would not watch a movie just because he made it.

Vampires - Incredibly Satrical, Watch it again with an open mind, Some moments of madness in it, agreed, but very true to vampireyness legends.
Escape From L.A. - It was made because New york did very well, this did terrible, it was not a good film.
Village of the Damned - A cult classic, Anyone who thinks its crap doesnt understand the genre!
In the Mouth of Madness - Only read about it, but apparently, average.
Body Bags - Havent seen it
Memoirs of an Invisible Man - It was not meant to be a serious film, Dark Comedy, Most amuseing.
They Live - Social Satire at its very best and most original, one of the best films made in the 80's, Not taken seriously due to rowdy roddy piper being it! (Also has an incredibly long fight scene!)
Prince of Darkness - Anouther Cult Classic, Seriously good apocolyptic devil jar fun!
Big Trouble in Little China - Again, a stupid comedy, mindless fun, stop takeing these films so seriously...
Starman - Red means stop, green means go, yellow mean go VERY fast lol I liked this one. (Indeed)
Christine - CRAP (Agreed....)
The Thing - Brilliant, his best work. I first watched it on a B&W telly I had in my room as a kid ( showing my age ) and it was even better that way ( or maybe just seems better again watching it as a kid ) (indeed)
Escape From New York - Anouther cult classic! Escape from new york was brilliant.
