Forum Layout and and feedback.

Can I ask why the forum needs 13 topics in General before the first REAL topic. The 14th topic is finally the first real topic. It looks terrible... And as for a public image, as a n00b the forums would be scary..

The General Forum

And from this forum

Surely some or all of that doesn't need to be there, can't you move it into the announcements section??

All of which, but one, serve a valid purpose.

The one that did not conform, though, has been removed.

I beg to differ on that

Hall of Fame Adjustment. = Announcement by staff post I feel
SGW Awards 2008 - Finale = Awards post. Not everyone cares about the awards much like the oscars
Ombudsman Election 2009 - Open = Announcement by staff post I feel
Feb 2 2009 - PM sent to EVERY registered user = Announcement by staff post I feel
Forum Liaison = been two weeks now surely that's long enough and oh Announcement by staff post I feel
ANNUAL AWARDS = Aren't they over?
Forum Management Structure = Announcement by staff post I feel
Mass Messegeing : Buck Edit = Announcement by staff post I feel
AdBlockPlus(ABP) and Siggy Killin' = Forum Feedback maybe
StarGateWars - Forum Guidelines (Short Version) = Announcement by staff post I feel

Topics

WTH (Ombudsman) nomination discussion = Fine where it is, should be removed after 10 days..
Award Signatures = Awards section
Alliance Bank - Poll & Discussion = fine where it is till the poll runs out
View first unread post sgw site slow? report here... = Bugs, I mean like this thread has been there for years, jason "could" put a link in the game to it..
CHAT WITH ADMIN SCHEDULE & LOGS = Announcement by staff post I feel
ATTENTION : Before Posting anything ever again. = could be merged with forum guidelines.

General is where most people go to on day one. It was the first place I saw it. Yes it shows a vibrant community but if the mods don't use the correct forum spaces how are players supposed to?

maybe you should run for Oms,

as for all your "announcement" ones, it dont work. no one reads announcements and then claim the didnt see it when they break a rules, forum user laziness forces us to put them here.

All awards threads are temperary

tho 1 or 2 do need getting rid of

As for game down,,, no this is where it belongs and people are use to it being here.

Oh no couldn't do that job.. See I have the feeling that mods should rarely interfere where possible. Mods here seem to run amuck, some do as they please, like for example, if I felt that a mod was being OTT to a player role playing or not I would discipline them without the ability to do anything I would get frustrated and say meh screw it.

A mods job is to enforce the rules, if a player or a mod don't read them it's not their fault. It's how its presented. People don't like being force fed information either, even if they are supposed to know it.. :)

Game down things..

JASON - Put a link in the game with some java :)

Well, things are this way because they need to be. End of story.

we explained our feedback to you, everything that is there either needs to be there currently, or we feel has a valid reason for being there.

So, thats the way it is.

*Shrug*

Dont take it personally, i didnt.

LOL I don't take things personally much anymore. See I just think of the forums as the games customer service. A messy customer service means that customers (players) do not wish to use said customer service. A small % of you true value will, but you could increase it by making it easier to navigate around.

Players will read announcements maybe once, I know I haven't read the forum rules no matter what additions have been added in over 2 years..

General is one of the high traffic places in the forum, the easier it is to understand (look at this from someone who NEVER visited it) and I will give you an example of what that is like http://www.p45rant.net or http://www.boards.ie two Irish boards with loads in it, but where do you begin???

The idea should be to welcome new community members, not confuse and enrage them..

Just something to think about.

J

Also while I am mentioning things, if MOD's made less announcements then people may read them more..

Something that is FREE rarely has any real value. Now, if you would love to start paying me, then we can see about adding value. Till then, we'll continue to do things our way, and you will enjoy it.

If something so frivolous as a couple extraneous announcements enrages you, then you need to seek some anger management classes and perhaps some psychological help, because obviously have some serious issues.
