Racial bonuses

After much thought we've decided that the replicatiors bonus to covert operations isn't fitting. It is being changed to a bonus in unit production.

I do and have always agreed with that.
After all replicators, (as ironic as it must be) replicate!
BTW - what is the bonus rate at? 10%? 15$?

I would be willign to say that this will be only for Origins.
Were they to make such a massive change to teh nature of the main server would cause dramatic and traumatic effects to the nature of that environment.

That will make everyone pick replicators NOT because they like them, but because of UP bonus obviously...
That's why it's been discussed countless times and never implemented in other games: unfair advantage for this race.
Considering it's not resetable game...

better this a bit over powered attribute than highly underpowered covert/anti covert imo
But make it 15% max as at later stage this boost would be HUGE. Or if more, than other race bonuses would have to be increased higher too

no, this is not a good idea. UP creates uu. UU is the life blood of any and every account next to the player themselves.
Giving any account a UP bonus is...just not cool for many reasons.
I suggest to represent their overwhelming numbers, and their ability to steal and adapt to technology, on top of their ability to ignore energy weapons AND shields, Replicators should be the Strike bonus race.
Tauri, representing their efforts in the series to assassinate and head towards subterfuge in small teams, should be the covert race.

UP bonuses are a bad idea.
Semper's thought is good, or we could just replace the replicators with Tok'ra and bring them back from the beginnings of the game.

Ok, it sounds like an idea to offset this option needs to be done.
Replicators replicate... They reproduce en masse. So drop the actual value of the worth of their individual units... So that that way, yes they get the bonus to their UP, however it takes more of them to actually do the same as the normal races...
ie. 2 rep's = 1 standard spy;
3 rep's = 1 tauri strike
2 rep's = 1 non-tauri strike
3 rep's = 1 asgard def
2 rep's = 1 non-asgard def...
etc, etc..

A possibility, but again simpler solutions are probably better for balance.

Well the bonus would potentially (dependign on the %) slightly outway the overall cost of the additional troops required to do anything.
After throughout all the series of SG, the advantage of the replicators was their numbers...

not just their numbers.
Their ability to adapt to technology, not be affected by the usual things the mortal being were affected by, their invulnerability to energy weapons and their ability to interface with any technology.

So how do we find a way to turn that into a bonus for them?
Perhaps cheaper and more efficient technologies for them?
