Things may not always be in chronological order. Someone asked me about quantum, so let me relate a few stories from the first 2 waves for you.

First wave of quantum, you could basically use 1 weapon and destroy a defence worth 100s of billions, you could kill untrained and all that. Now of course some bright spark decided to be the spoiler. His name was Merc. In main he was JaseB's cousin/bro in law. So of course he started destroying defences. My huge covert allowed me to have a weaker defence so I didn't lose much. While I had many personal public battles that wave, I was most proud of the secret wars I planned. We had, I believe it was Fox change his name to Merc1 and basically declare war on everyone including Omega and he went about massing loads of defences while declaring his allegiance to his 'great' leader Merc. This resulted in a backlash that Merc was targeted by the whole game and was isolated as a threat. The TA at the time was the big power in main and were recruiting for quantum, so quite easy to place spies in their group. I used to be so amused by their trash talking of Omega, who were basically taking over quantum at the time. I remember Acronon going on a rant about us (he was TA at the time). I engineered a situation where 'other' enemies of the TA quantum team massed the TA and blamed Acronon for his trash talking, basically getting him kicked out of the TA. It was a decent wave where 5 of the top 10 and 10 of the top 20 finishers were members of Omega. And yes I knew JaseB, who was using another name, was giving info to his cuz Merc so I used him. (But we had a good laugh over it all later)

Quantum 2nd wave, Zaphor and Bahamut were being boosted and traded for so many resources that they were basically almost invincible. Quantum was quite literally over within a month. So then our plans came into effect. Fox, in another guise was placed into Bahamut's alliance..and Josh or was it Jeff was placed in Zaphor's. To cut a long story short I had them engineer a war between Zaph and Baha. They destroyed each other, leaving me to win quantum. That was fun!

Next blog post (in the same thread) will be about the first months of my play in main, to the formation of Omega and our dealings with _Apophis__

Brilliant strategy/tactics.. I love how you set Zaphor and Bahamut up against each other.. ;)
And of course, the Merc takedown is an impressive story as well. To play the game like that, it's playing with so much more dimension as the numberpunching it is now.. :D

Yes, sgw/qgw used to have something called strategy and plannification. Sad it's almost gone now.. :(

Got a question for you ETL - Was our (COAA) spy in Omega really your agent in us? If you don't know what I'm talking about, then the guy was always loyal to us - I'm asking because he always seemed too good to be true.....

well while you have been away.. omega have fallen by the wayside in quantum =)

you should come back and work some magic.. next wave starts in a week.

and omega never managed to be the top alliance 2waves in a row.. but TCC are about to win 3 in a row.. with plans on 4.. unless some1 stops us..

I say something similar about main.. at least with Q you can have a target in mind.. and wars can actually harm people.. there is no way that one person/alliance can become unstoppable.. because everyone is reset after 3 months.. The problems with Q are feeders / snipers / lack of players.

Aparantly feeders are going to be dealt with next wave, and if we get a few more people into Q then it will just be the snipers that are the problem, but as I see it.. thats not something that would kill the wave.

Cost of UP being linked to the top UP has made Q more tactical as well, because noone can push too far ahead.. even if they are fed.. because it makes it much easier for others to catch up.. Similarly with techs.

If you think you have the tactics and ability to play.. why not try, and see how you do when put on equal footing with everyone else, might get a shock and not be as good as you thought =)
*not meant to anyone in particular, just more recruiting*

And Borek, you should come back, its been a while since I saw you in the ranks =)

I'll come back when we have a guaranteed bug free wave where cheaters actually get caught and banned. That will happen shortly after hell freezes over, lol.

so enjoying your stupid techs, dragons, Undead, the massive donations the "top" people make for a 3 month resetting game, the numerous bugs and glitches that get introduced every single wave due to the new features having insufficient time in beta testing. I won't even go into the ludicrous "feeding" that goes on.

if i was paid i don't think i would come back, not unless it was a lot anyway, and even then i'd just take the money and laugh.

Oh i grant you that main sucks, but at least it sucks without resetting and having a whole host of new bugs added every 3 months.

Thats something I would like.. is admins to pay more attention to Quantum.. both Jason, to stop bugs happening and to fix ones that do crop up faster... and Mark to catch cheaters..

and for the donating.. there will always be people who donate.. I have done so in the past.. but I haven't donated at all this wave.. and am still on for a top 5 finish.. would be higher if I hadn't missed 3weeks over xmas.

I understand your frustration.. but I still think Qs biggest problem is lack of players.. if we can get a few more active players.. we would most likely have a very memorable wave =)

I can imaging ETL coming back to Q.. dragging all of omega with him.. and it being very painful for all.. :-D

Q can be great fun... The only problem's i find are snipers and cheaters. Some people struggle due to the fact that resources are actually limited, unlike main, so you need to use a bit more strategy if you want to do well ;)

To give u an idea of how bad quantum is, it is a FACT that the wave Lichking and his buddy won, they cheated. Game mod subsequently banned them from future waves. They basically found a merc bug, giving them unlimited mercs through which they massed every one of us who was a threat. I would have won that wave too, got massed on the last day. They then massed zaphor and a whole load of others, without any loss of power or units. That's why I consider that wave a void one. The fact that the records haven't been adjusted demonstrate quantum's state. Although it wouldn't be fair as the people who would have won if with the top 2 disqualified didn't deserve it either, not due to cheating etc, but just because they gained their ranks by the illegal massings of the top 2.

but.. that was a long time ago, how does that equate to the state of quantum currently?
