Does anyone have any wonderfully stupid tales of their ending to Era 17??
I just got home after a nice 18 hour work day, thought I would share...

I just had to share my own stupidity, and thought there might be others...

Having the Era end at 1:15pm EST in the Eastern US in the middle of a workday (Monday) was, as usual, about as convenient as having hemaroids, or dealing with the Regulators Quandary, which is about the same thing I guess. Being a Field Service Engineer, I was forced to dispatch (Cool Breeze told me to call in sick!! HAHA) today on a 10 hour plus drive round trip repair job to one of my farthest support territories today down in South Florida - helzl bells, why not? Of course if you've worked your arse off for 3 months, spent about $150 dollars in USS (yes, thats right... I was so enthusiastic this Era I decided to blow some big bucks), I had about a cool Trill or so NAQ stored up for the final minutes.

As it was, I find myself on I-75 in Florida, hauling natural borne arse in my company work van, trying to both get my job accomplished, but also stop every so often to try and jack into someones WiFi to check my Quantum player account.

I decide to get off on an Interstate exit with a restuarant that I know has free WiFi, eat some lunch, while jamming on my laptop playing Quantum - Yeah baby, Top 5 finish for me this Era!! HAHAHA
So, I pull off, and as luck has it, and the US economy has gone in the shiztter lately, my GD restuarant was boarded up and closed down (just ate there about 3 months back... WTH am I gonna do now??)

Head for a McDs, they usually have WiFi, but Frak no... GD McD in Redneckville Florida, no frakkin WiFi.

I stomp the gas in my work van, haul arse over to a Dennys, they have WiFi usually... BUT NOOOOOOO not this GD Dennys!!

I cut through a gas station, get caught behind a big 40 foot frakkin long Winnebago RV who has gotten stuck in the gas station turning a U-turn, and have to run over some blasted hedges to get out of the lot. Go baby go...

(My GD blood beating in my temples, it is 12:58pm EST, only about 10-12 minutes left in the Era...)
Pull into a crappy Sleep Inn hotel parking lot - YEAAAaaaaaaaaaaa
they have WiFi... Get my laptop attached, start typing, login, and WHAMMO - the Internet connection drops.

Repeat this several times, 1:05PM EST, yeah, finally got some NAQ spent, buying defense, untraining Miners, training Spies, training AC, buying, spend, frakkin spend, spend MFr, spend, click, click, clack
WHAMMO, Internet drops again.

I'm back in, 1:10pm, click, spend, click, click comeon MFing fingers type, spend, click, spend WHAT???

End of era... Go F yourself Affirmation...

Dufus me, left about a quarter Trill NAQ left unspent, half a million troops untrained, what a complete GD moron...

Oh well, there is always NEXT era!! HAHAHAHA

from my point of view, even if you spent 250bil and train your 500mil spies, it will not made any difference, you'll be still on first page, you'll be still under top 10. Anyway, to be on the 1st page is cool, so gj and have fun next wave.

Quarter tril isn't enough really...like Kalanor said.

You could have aimed for a rank 1 stat on something
so that you have something to fall back on because
fighting for top 10 gets crazy... And a $150
USS was perhaps good while it lasted. Could have be
fun for month or so...

3 mil untrained here lol. Fing work and didn't spend any naq either o well. my turnaround (job) ended sunday tho so i could have played monday if iy wasn't for my mega - B**** nagging me to come home right away so instead of seeing the end i traveled 13 hours. but congrats on end of wave everyone

Yeah, I think the 250Trill would maybe have made about 3 or 4 ranks different. I laughed at myself sitting in my work van, almost pee'd myself laughing at how hard I was working to try and get the finish in... It was like being in the Twilight Zone or something.

My first Era last wave, I start 5 weeks late, work hard, dont spend anything, and manage a Top 20 finish. This Era, start at the beginning, work hard, spend $$$ on PPTs and such, and finish lower, WTH am I supposed to learn from that??? HAHAHAHAHA

I did take it too seriously this Era, next era, "The land of Fun for Affirmation" stop taking it too seriously... Seriously, stop...

Sounds like I've stirred things a little, I guess we need to work on some issues with Feeders, feeding, stuff in general. The Dragons sucked big time, and that detracted from the Era. I still had fun, even at the end...

LOL, funny story mate, thanks for sharing... i'm sure i would have been doing the same thing if i were in your shoes.. franticly searching for a Wifi hot spot!!

Congrats on a page 1 finish, i managed 15th this era, not as high as i'd like but not bad considering no $$$ spent! i would like the benifits of a MaSsiVe bank size though, not havin to buy and sell weapons for covert lvl's would be great!

Yea, the big bank helps considerably. I didn't spend any $$$ that wave, but wouldn't have done as well as I did without the nice sized bank I gained in prev era's.. When I could afford to spend $$ coz I was making it from main

yeah, i'm going to play it a little different nxt era.. i'll be certinaly challenging the top spots nxt era.. but i'd love to be able to spend a few $$ and get a bigger bank.. might have to see if i can make a few $$ selling UU's in main.

What a great idea! i've only got 50mil army size in main but i would sacrifice a few mil for some $$ (not sure the going rate these days!)

I know I've set my alarm clock to get up at strange hours just to bank.. or stopped in the local library to do some quick quantuming.. and even sneak off to the den at family function to drop a bank every now and then.
The end of era is always a frantic time regardless of where you're finishing..
I think I finished 24 or 25... first page again... and no $$ spent this era.
I know some people bust on the people that spend spend and spend on SS and USS..
But I'd like to thank them.. they bank roll our fun.
