...are not about wars anymore, but a perfect breeding place of flame, slander and insults. I think a change is needed here. I can imagine filtering the posts and cutting out the spam must be a terrifying job to mods, especially in the case where the war thread is dam long

I'm offering a (maybe too) simple solution. As the original reason for these war threads was to inform the Community about the state of current war. I think ALL posts not connected to an ingame war event should be erased.

I know it is only a fairy tale, but the only things I wanna see in war topics are 'who massed who', 'who lost that 10M spies', 'how many planets were taken' etc. No personal feelings, no personal opinions, just rough statistics.

Now, debate!

anything war/slander etc does not belong in spam. infact i personally have very little tolerance for it there. also it has been standard practice for a while now to dump such things.

in any case tho it ultimately is up to the mods who mod these threads...... mind you im not making any judgement calls as im war neutral and i dont mod said threads......

I'd find statistics very boring. To me, the banter/propoganda which comes with wars is as essential and entertaining an aspect of them as the in-game conflict itself. Page upon page of mothership massing logs would put me to sleep. If that's all the GC was, then only a minority would ever bother going there.

The General Mod team is there in case anything gets out of hand, but as Jason himself has made clear the GC is a roleplaying zone of relaxed content. I say keep things as they are.

And as Jack said, outside of the GC, such things have no real place.

And might I add, it is not the Mods or Admins that can change the way people use the GC, it is the users themselves.

If people stop insulting and offending people and actually tried to get a long and roleplay then we would not have a problem.

It is the users that cause the problem, no-one else.

And to add, if those who were sick of the negativity and BS associated with the GC would go to the admin meets, or contact admin by any means possible and do like "the vocal minority who pays the bandwidth", and make YOUR voiced be heard like they do then maybe you would see some changes. Sadly it seems to be only the "bad apples" who keep admins ear because everyone else chooses to be silent about the matters.

People are roleplaying. Jerks. That`s been a long standing and accepted practice around here for years, atleast for induviduals. Why change it now when it`s getting popular?

And can we atleast get a reason for why it`s locked every time stated? A concrete reason if possible? Just to know what to avoid in the futre lol?

And I think pointing fingers at users alone is a tad unfair. Afterall, as far as I kept track, in the last 2 exchanges that resulted in a lock a mod had center stage in the controversy, as per usual in that thread.
So don`t be pointing the finger on us mortals heh... The example a segment of you set leaves muuuuuch to be desired. So I call *sonmethinglikelysanctionedbutcontaininginnitialsB&S* on that applause and general statement of whos problem this is.

No matter how u roleplay there is always a difference between role playing or being a complete jerk. Brdavs u know that as well as any veteran of the game.

I assume your kidding me. If u read the topic u bloody well know why its locked. There is no need to state the obvious. The topic was locked twice in the last month and both had to do with the ongoing flaming towards eachother. Jason may have created more lenient rules in that area on the request of the few that pay the bandwith. This however does not mean that flaming and insulting like the FUALL vs TTF topic has become is something the forum staff condones even though Jason wants it differently.

See thats where the whole problem lies. Its not the users and its not the mods. No its the users and mods who made the topic go beserk and the users and mods should take full responsebility for it. The topic has become a joke anyway. There are no real war stats involved and it doesnt deserve the name of friendly enviroment. The mods acctually locked it after several users from both sides asking for it to be locked again. Sorry that i have to take ur post as example but its exactly the people like you who make this place go to hell. We have them in FUALL and we have them in TTF heck we even have em outside of the server war (yes there is still a game outside of the server war). Personally i think that this all has gone on way to long now and its not only refering to this war or what ever u wanna call it these days. But as always there are more then one side to blaim
