Miners - is it really worth it

Is it really worth it to invest units in miners?
If 1 miners offers 80 naq/turn, then even at a million miners you will get 80mil naq/turn, which doesn't sound to profitable for me. Better to invest in other areas, like covert.

looking at it strategically.... miners CANNOT be massed.. at 100m miners you have about a 10b+ income supporting yourself.. so really i think its worth it :)

That`s the bread and butter of SGW. Once you get 300mil miners, then you`re rolling. Starts off slowly thoe, that it does heh.

Without miners you dont have a bank to fill it for bigger covert levels. Or just about anything. Not to mention covert can be killed and miners cant.

So basically, not only is it very much worth it (after a while), it`s pritty much a necesity to a degree. :)

So you think it might be better to invest the majority of your army in stuff like defence, covert and AC which can be killed?

As Brdavs said, miners are not only important for income, but more for bank space. If you want the high covert levels then you really need the bank space to store the naq.

And miners only produce 80/turn if unascended. It increases with each ascension.

That means that i have to ascend. I kinda like the Asgards. But i see i can reach nowhere without ascension.
By the end of the week i must ascend. Though i hate to leave everything and start from the stone age, again.

The best thing to do for your first ascension, is to use the 1k g&r to trade for FSS. Then get another 1,001 g&r to ascend with and that way you have the ability to broker someone your resources so you don't lose any resources unncessarily.

But putting ur units in to covert instead of miners is just as bad, infact it is worse.

well minus your UP and super units, you can still send the rest of your units to someone else for when you ascend so you don't have to start from scratch? (as clarkey said) get 1001 gnr first then get another 1001 and ascend, will hurt less then.

or.. be crazy and do what I did for my first ascension..

Train all your units to lifers, then you dont lose them..

Unfortunately ascension is essential these days but until you stop ascending don't over invest in various stats like UP as they just cost you when you do ascend. And you will quickly discover that it's not worth it to ascend 'big' as it used to be.

Heart of the matter is that you lose your units if you've trained them as anything but miners, to people who like to hunt for ME.

Anyway, some good advice in this thread Thor. You would do well to listen. :)

Wait until you have a larger army.
Ascend to Prior at 15 million, Prophet at 25, Messiah at 30, Incarnate at 35, Living God at 50, Living God + 1 through 4 at 60 through 85, Ancient God at 100m, and so on. If you wish to rush things.

In the meantime, don't build an UP, just raid. A lot. You don't need an army to raid, and you don't need to train supers to get GnR. Train regular soldiers, buy Mercs to your limit, arm them and you're in GnR range in no time. Get 1001 GnR and get yourself a Supporter Status, then drop back in rank to get your army up.
Once back in the lower ranks, with FSS, invest 2 days of income a week in MS, at least. 3 days in buying AT's through brokers, and what you have left in buying UU.

Anyway.. that's two ways to do it.
Plenty of ways to play. ;) Important thing is never to have that many killable units that you cannot rebuild your armysize quickly.
(Larger UP costs more UU when ascending, and since you lose it it's not very well worth it.)

Find a good CO or alliance. They can help you better and with less ridiculing.
