you guys should actually talk to the oms, you know, the "voice" of the community?
Not laughing at you Tetris, just you and the guy above you both ask questions/offer solutions to things that "the voice of the people" are presently working on.
The only way the oms position will ever work is if people actually use it, weather its who you wanted in there or not.

Ombudsman's corner
viewforum.php?f=132Commonly refere to as "the voice of the people". its who you take your forum issues to work on them for you. from complaints to lobbing for rule changes and basicly just about anything.

If my ideas are stupid and pointless, just lock the thread. I think our oms has a good chance of doing things, I cant judge until ive seen him at work.
Why do you think they are consider stupid and pointless? I just told you the same thing is being worked on?
Im sure if you had won your campaign you would be glad for people to act just like this and not even bother to use you or the function of your job.

Tetris, you're really taking this too far. Do you realize this is an online message board that we, the mod and administrative staff, are the law? Stop trying to find ways to punish *us*. We have our own procedures for dealing with misconduct, and unless you are a member of our team, it is not your place to tell us what we should do. Get off your soapbox, and go play the game. Stop playing virtual politics in here, as it just makes you look like a fool.

That would defy the definition of an ombudsman. The ombudsman is there to investigate/resolve conflicts between the administration and the users. His role is not being the "voice of the people" nor a lobbying for rule changes etc.
If you want to give the ombudsman more duties then I suggest you come up with a different name for the position

punishment of forum staff members is the task of the administration, not of the community...
there is therefore no need to have such described anywhere but in the mod/admin sections...
as said by others, the ombudsmen are part of the staff-community link, not staff-staff link...

@Lore
Sorry for the additude, I was painting the house all day, was getting to my head. I reread what you posted just now and get it.
Hope OMS has better luck with getting these ideas done than I am.
I've saved your butt before when you were posting this useless banter, so can it buddy. We have systems in place to deal with rule violations. It may not be 100% perfect, but it works for what we need. Like I said, hop off your soapbox and go mass somebody. Go trade some UU, buy some turns. Go play the game. Stop trying to involve yourself with the political workings of the forum. You've cried wolf and said too many stupid things to make a difference anymore. All you're doing, and I repeat, is making yourself look like a fool.

All I am going to say is this.
1) I was suspended without anyone hearing my side of the story, which is utterly hilarious since the only Admin to really "do any" of the reading was Robe. Lore had computer problems, and Buck couldn't do much since he was actually a part of the war.
2) I was told to go to the Ombudsman by an Admin.
3) I went to the Ombudsman.
4) The Ombudsman's told me that we could only appeal to the Admins.
5) Robe tells FreeSpirit there is no appeal process.
6) The whole thing is a joke that should have been dealt with a while ago but it still goes on today.

This is the sequence of events that occured which led up the punishments being issued as recorded in the Forum Admin Section.
All 3 Forum Admins received Clarkey's Complaints about being publicly undermined by Noobert and FreeSpirit via forum pm, which was posted in the Forum Admin Section for review on Fri Feb 27, 2009 6:32 pm.
All 3 Forum Admins discussed and decided upon an appropriate punishment in Forum Admin Section on Mon Mar 02, 2009 7:42 am.
Buck messaged Lore and Robe saying that he was involved in the war where the complaint occured. Lore messaged Robe saying he was experiencing computer problems.
Robe posted the issued punishments that all 3 Forum Admin agreed to on Mon Mar 02, 2009 2:51 pm.
FreeSpirt lodged a complaint about his punishments to the Ombudsman who correctly advised him that it was not within their Charter to review Admin/Mod complaints.
FreeSpirt then contacted all 3 Forum Admins to lodge a complaint about his punishment and additional discussions were posted in the Forum Admin Section.
However to date, there has been no decision by the Forum Admins to over turn the 14 day loss of mod priveledges punishment awarded to FreeSpirt.

Im a bit appalled Free and Noob you made a punishable mistake , you got punished Man up and take it learn from your mistakes and get on with it!
But no ...
Your pride and indignant natures give you the justification to and while defending yourselves to yourselves because you simply cant except you did something wrong which takes more courage to accept than to place blame on someone else so why not make a fuss cry rivers of msn make polls and hang flags in protest and shake fingers. It the easy way out
and ...
I would implore and ask that the Admin team not be influenced and effected by the actions and pleas of any one player or user to undermine the Triad in public in regards to any rules or decisions made by one or all of the three of you present or not.
I completely support Robes decision and the timing of it based on the facts presented.
and shame on all of you for expecting a timely decision and then throwing a fit because it wasn't the one you wanted or could be there to make ,and then attacking the person who had the balls to make it.

I suggest you refrain comments about Noobert's and FS's suspension in public expecially since you do not have all the facts.
I really hope the same standards will be applied to other mods who defy mod decisions in public and that complaints won't be ignored as it has been the case on at least one occasion.
Now that the precendent has been set, it should be clear that defying a mod's decision is a warnable offense.

I agree these convos should not be for public consumption , and I am afraid I am more informed than you would like.
I also agree that continuity of standards and decisions would be Ideal
so I would ask that you clarify. Has it been decided that it is warnable or punishable by suspension ? or both.
