Its happening Again... Northern Ireland.

Sad times.

2 British soldiers shot and killed at the weekend, about 2 hours now a police officer investigateing an anonomous phone call was shot and killed.

It really defies any logic, religion, reason, or philosophy that these people would want to try and take N.I. back to the brink.

I will not ask why there are still British soldiers in Irish territory, as I know the matter is extremely sensitive.

My thoughts are with the families of the fallen/murdered.

And buck.. it really does defy logic.

If you're up for a more light-hearted response, read the spoiler, otherwise please ignore.
Maybe they are disgruntled U2 fans who want them to play Bloody Sunday at concerts again.. >_>

Apologies if that went overboard.
...the fact its disputed just....well thats one hell of a disscussion.

After , how many years of bloodshed? 60 odd? They go back to this.

Northern Ireland Is part of the UK, full name: "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" Great Britain is made up of England, Wales, Scotland. The Queen is the head of state for all of the countries.

Therfore Universe, why are the Northern Irish shooting the soldiers their taxes pay for...and it isnt "Irish" territory. :)

EDIT: buck beat me

They are shooting because they want it to be irish, And instead of doing things politically (because that is takeing a very long time...indeed) they are killing. I dont know if the irish people stil have the resolve in them to last this out again...

Some want it to be irish, others just dont want British intervention.

It will likely be one of the more punkish gangs....UDA, UFF, UDF or some other U something something. The ones who think its some sort of war with their balaclava's on.

Unless buck a southern group has claimed doing it? I havnt read anything on this yet so not sure.

One thing is certain, who ever did it will be veeeery sorry before they even get through to the justice system

I'm afraid people like that, In NI, are very rarely found, Its unlikely to the extreme they will be brought to any sort of justice, Nor found.

I cant remember who claimed responsibility for either attack, a couple of groups have done.

They will find them or some people associated with them :) just a matter of legally pinning something on them to get them in jail.

Jail isnt the only punishment Bucky. (My old man is in army intel, he has been in NI several times, ive been there for a few years too) Ive heard lots and lots of his story's.

Very interesting what happens...soldiers dont like other soldiers/police being killed by gangs.

*awaits the sound of doors being broken down*

UK armed forces were withdrawn from the NI territories under the good friday agreements. Only skeleton crews were kept at bases to ensure their security & policing details were handed over fully to cilivian authorities.

UK armed forces were recently returned to help with intelligence & anti terrorist operations.

Exactly. I covertly referred to this when I did not ask my question.

Terror threat is a crock. Sure, there is terror threat. It is being used by certain governments to obtain more complete control over their population. It all begins with good intentions, but the road to hell is paved with them for a reason.

Yeah I never said the reasons for the armed forces return were good or valid/true, but they are the presented reasons.

I fully agree with you. No matter where you are, there will always be some sort of terror threat. I would be all for more police and all that if the threat was a specific and legit threat, instead of a vague "terror threat".

Thats what I was thinking...security a few years ago was insane to get near the front gates of a base
