How is the recession effecting you?

Thought i might get other peoples thoughts on this...
Well here in australia im sure we are not suffering as bad as Europe and America....but we are starting to feel it now.

I normally work about 40 hours a week and im seeing my hours get cut down from 40...to 30...and now down to 25-27...its not good...it bloody sucks.

any other stories?

My hours haven't been cut, but the shop at which I work hasn't been doing so well. If things continue as they are, then I may see an impact on how much I get paid or how much I work. If the worst comes to the worst, I may be looking at redundancy.

Then again I'm a student and this is just part time work. I don't have a family to support, and I'm not solely reliant upon the income. Comparatiely speaking, I'm almost doing okay.

My mother recently lost her job due to illness...so im supporting myself and my mother and 2 brothers...

so im alive...but if stuff keeps going bad then...

People here a outta work...about 3000 aren' getting payed but it isn't that much different.The rich kep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer...its more of a psychologycal effect if you ask me..for now at least

It is only affecting me by extension. My friends are shorter on cash so cannot do as much. Otherwise, personally its not getting me yet... not in any really noticeable way thats made me take and step back and think.. "oh.."

Since I'm a student, don't have shares yet, and don't work, I'm not really concerned personally.
However my father is, his shares are downfalling quite hard

For example the town used to have upwards of 8 different car dealerships, now there are 2 major ones and 2 smaller but more loyal customer based ones. The 4 other major ones were quickly bought and taken over by these two major ones thanks for them somehow having extreme amounts of cash on hand.

I think they're hedging their bets. They figure that they would survive the storm with their cash reserves and their companies afloat, but when they got out who knows if the companies who's cars they're selling are still going to be around. They have two interesting strategies though, one of em took Chrysler and Ford and every german or european company around. While the other took GM and every japanese car he could find.

I wonder which brand(s) are going to disappear with this recession..I know Oldsmobile disappeared a few years ago, so there will probably be some brands who'll not survive.

This recession forced me to go back on Active duty with the military. I make great money, have great benefits, and with the way the world is, VERY GOOD job security.

Im seeing alot of new buildings etc in liverpool Buts thats because they still have alot of capital of culture funding.

Generally speaking, im doing better than i was, But thats mostly due to the fact that i have 2 Part time jobs, And im a student.

My first part time job is promotional in the music buisiness, working for venues with bands etc, and that really, i cant see being too affected by the Recession, My other is delivery but thats for my dad, So frankly, i dont mind helping him esp in hard times as he has his own buisiness.

That being said, his is the furniture buisiness and it almost whiped him out the middle of last year, but trade has picked up again.

And im a student, so get alot of loans and generally, get free stuff and cheap stuff. Yay for me!

I presume I am right to assume these are NEW cars, and not second hand or worse bang wagons?

im a student and it really sucks royally. i mean ive been looking for work for a while now, and now the economy is in as bad a shape as it is its going to be even harder to find work....... several of my friends became redundant recently....

and because i dont have my own income, theres nothing i can do. i cant claim any support money from the government because im not full time (hence why looking for a job) let alone the fact that my friend did NOTHING to contribute to society for a long LONG time and because of the gov'ts mis managed stuff he has money coming out the wazoo. not to mention the recent 'stimulus package' is being distributed to dead ppl, and ppl who dont live here anymore from our government. its utter lunacy and my gov't have no clue.

but i guess im ok, im still at home with mum and dad, i have a roof over my head, a bed to sleep in, a nice computer and it looks like my dads job security is good. so im doing OK but its going to be harder now for me to become more independant.
