I've never read but I've heard about it.

Exactly what does it talk about?

its a pretty good book, the specifics are obviously obselete, but the strategic basis still holds true

i would have thought the title was self explanitory lol

A must read for any SGW player, I'd say, or indeed anybody who wants to give themselves a head start in some aspects of life. This book, along with Machiavelli's "The Prince" and Robert Greene's "48 Laws of Power" has been an enormous influence on me in the real world.

Well.. a book called "The Art of War" would talk about the art of war. :)
To not be a complete jerk, I thought I'd actually bring some helpful information..
From the Table of Contents;
* I. Laying Plans
* II. Waging War
* III. Attack by Stratagem
* IV. Tactical Dispositions
* V. Energy
* VI. Weak Points and Strong
* VII. Maneuvering
* VIII. Variation of Tactics
* IX. The Army on the March
* X. Terrain
* XI. The Nine Situations
* XII. The Attack by Fire
* XIII. The Use of Spies

It's all about that. Those are very well explained, much elaborated upon by Sun Tzu, and well.. it generally gives one a good idea of basic strategy and how to pay attention to details.
I loved it. :) Unfortunately, I have failed thus far to incorporate its wisdom in my daily life.. :P I have read most of Mordacks list though. ;)

Unfortunately I am being restrained by some uncontrollable adherence to Asimov and Rand. :(
Cheers for the one who is able to elaborate on the irony of that statement.

I find the ideas in works of historical significance such as this have become so diffused that they are almost truisms now....this, Machiavelli, Adam Smith, Marx, Schumpeter, Keynes - most educated people will know the ideas within them - will probably ascribe to a lot of them, but will never know their provenance. ;)

True you might think it might talk about the art of war but my sister gave me about eight books about the art of drawing and coloring. Turned out to be quite different. lol Made me wary of the titles so I tend to read the first page and the summary when I buy books.

To anyone who wishes to take life by the horns as a Warrior (as a soldier, as a buisinessman/woman, and most certainly for any Martial Artist):

The Art of War by Sun Tzu and The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi are your books of holy scripture. ~_^
