this just kinda popped into my head and wondered what you guys thought...

i'm on the fence with this one, but what i will say is this, i think we do have souls and that there is an afterlife or something else after death, i have no opinion as to what might be on the other side but its my belief that there is something more to mankind's existence that just graft, pay bills, sex, booze, fast cars, clubbing, home and sleep.
its also my belief that we have strayed from spirituality (not religion) and crossed over to materialism and forgotten that we do have a spiritual side.

anyways, are ghosts real, do we have a spirit or soul, is the world we see all that there is???

thoughts please and no religious discussion.

I believe the soul is like energy. And when we die, that energy either "ascends" to a higher plain or is trapped here on Earth. That trapped energy is what people receive as ghosts in my opinion. And some of the "trapped souls" chose to interact with humanity, whether to aid or otherwise, I have no clue.

personly i don't think they exsist but i have family and friends that swear that objects moved by themselves and that a weeji (spelt wrong i know) board exploded on them during a sayonce (agian spelling) but well i don't buy it despite there "proof"

having said that i admit there are things that can't be explained at least at present and do belive in the supernatural to a degree

Assuming there is anything after this pyshical life, why would anyone choose to hang around?

If you become energy and 'ascend' as it were why would you hang around Earth? why not go and find out more about whats going on elsewhere, even if no other 'intelligent' life exists there is still plenty to see out in the universe.

If we become one with the universe or some other greater being then again why hang around Earth?

the idea of ghosts never really made sense to me

With all of the universe open to you & the psyhical plane denied to you those reasons are pretty petty ones for hanging around.

The universe is a big place & you have all the time left in existence. Hanging around and pestering those left in the psyhical plane seems just a tad petty

petty yes but can you honestly say you don't know someone that petty or deranged plus it could be a lot of fun

I'd like to think that upon realising what they could do & what might be out there that no one would choose to stick around just to cause trouble/heartache or be a pain in the ass.

as for hanging around, if there is indeed a spiritual or energy plane of existence, consciousness might not be the same as it is here, here we make conscious decisions and (unless your a schizo) we are fully aware of our actions, it might not be the same on the other side, and depending if you have any major regrets, you might not have much of a choice whether you hang around or are a victim of your regrets...

if i'm being clear and coherent enough to be understood?

I'm on the fence on this one and haven't made my mind up if they exist or not, i heard an intresting theory as to why ghosts move through solid objects tho and that was that at the time they died the house there seen in was set up different, furniture not in the same place, doors filled in, or in the case of only seeing half a ghost outside the floor level has changed and there still going by the way the landscape or house was set up when they died! ~Thamuz~

As for the Q, I tend to believe in ghosts, especially since I have seen one running around.

some of kma's posts scare me, and seem to be beyond the realm of explanation. Do they count as supernatural?
