Surprise!

I just recently ascended, and just for kicks, equipped one super and weapon for strike and def, and waited for the rankings. Here's what somewhat surprised me:

Strike Action xxx,xxx Ranked: 28,986
Defensive Action xxx,xxx Ranked: 5,101

Are that many people without a defense? Then again, I guess the server war has most everyone's taken out...

It still came as slightly humorous though.

By now most inactive accounts in this game have lost their defenses from raiding, farming or massing, and there really aren't that many active accounts anymore :?

I guess. There are, however, a bunch that play, but don't post here. I think Jason should conduct a sort of census to find out how many are active.

(*ahemcough*, this should be the solution to "get rid of the inactive accounts")

Jason can see each accounts activity. Last I knew he consider an account active if it logged in once every 30 days.

As for the server war, I'd say even most in it keep a small token def just to make the attacker have losses over a 0 def and no losses.

But I do think this piece of info has more meaning then most realise.

So at most we are looking at 5500-6000 active accounts.

Define active?

and there are alot of 0 def active accounts, its how they choose to exist, but ultimately I think it does show a stark contrast to
382 Players On!
(of 99,821 total)

It would be the better solution to delete all inactive accounts not logged in in the last 30 days. Then noone will complain about this. Best if admin warn everyone, then delete them after another month. Maybe no permanent del, only move to a separated database in case they want to continue in the far future. This will make the game more multiplayer than only farming the inactives. More fun I think.

Yes some choose to exist like that but I wouldnt think it would be more than 500-1000.. I may be wrong though. In any case you are right though, <10% out of 100k isnt what it should be.

I think the idea of moving them to another database of some sort is a good one.

Also think of the number of banned and Ostracised accounts that are contributing to that - not a huge number but probably not a small one either.

Maybe a protocol could be set up to automatically set an account to 'inactive' mode where it disappears from the rankings, alliance listings, commander pages etc after 30 days, whereby the account is effectively removed from the game but the stats (perhaps in some basic form) could be retained incase the player becomes active again? Maybe require the player to request the reactivation of their account before it comes back online if that would make it easier to employ?

The Ostracised accounts could then also be put into this 'inactive' mode but with the caveat that it can't be reactivated.

Might I suggest? :)

- In case accounts aren't active once in every 30 days or so (but weren't set in vac) and there are no activity against them within the last 30 days (this to prevent that all the raid-targets are gone), put them on an automatic vacation and set them away in a seperate database. They'll still count towards the amount of accounts
- When accounts from that database are found to be not used within 6 months, delete them.

no, much more... i would say 10-15k... i would say there are more active people with 0 def then what there are with a def... many just PPT + train... others are just sniper accounts... ect ect

That was about my guess too... minimal 10k active accounts, but certainly around 75k-80k (minimal, to be on the safe side) inactives

I'm committed to not having a defence for the coming year while growing and ascending etc.. :)
So that explains one of the 'inactives'.

*grins*

'tis a bit of a coward-motive, I'll admit that.
