I would like to point out that this Tuesday, the 19 of may, is the international day of hepatitis. On this day I would invite everybody to learn more about the disease, as it will benefit us and by that we also show some sympathy and compassion to those suffering from it.
In short:
Hepatitis is virus type disease and there are many forms (A-G at least). The way of getting infected is form dependant (from sexual transmitted forms to only blood transmitted), but all have in common serious to deadly consequences if not detected and treated in time (usually some form of liver cirrhosis or cancer and additionally other vital organs can be attacked). Detecting infection is very problematic for form C (at least), since symptoms are for most people hardly noticeable until very late in disease progression so preventive clinical testing is the only sure way to know.
I would like to urge all to bring focus on this issue tomorrow, read up on it by finding your own country Association and bring me the link plus contact information on people we can contact as the Danish Association want to get in contact with more to work with them as this issue with Hepatitis is not getting the attention it deserves alone in Denmark we are not funding the association with money to help inform, doctors and nurses in many practises or even hospitals do not know enough and we have used a lot of time to teach them, we have seen money for information campaigns go to associations not even working inside this field and the issue is not taken up as it should and we aren’t the only country. Hence my urge on this forum and on many other places in hope we can bring some attention to this issue.
