I believe in god.

Hmm.. my beliefs..

I don't believe in a "God" so to speak, at least not to the extent that some of the mainstream religions go off on.. I think the basic ideology behind most world religions are good, ideas such as peace, enlightenment and all that, but the effect that religion has had on the world throughout history is pathetic to say the least >_>
People kill each other other it, and what for? "My God is better than your God!" is what it comes down to in my opinion, and that's just, well, sad.
Then there's the devotion factor. Honestly, I swear some people think that if they go to church everyday, they can get away with anything because "God will forgive them".. Do you really think that's what religion was meant to be? An escape from personal guilt?
If there is in fact an omniescent (Don't know how to spell that) being watching over us, do people honestly think that blind faith is what "it" looks for in a person to let them live in "Eternal Happiness"?

Personally, I feel that I can gauge my own actions and control myself, when it comes to being a generally "good" or "evil" person. Furthermore, I feel that if there is in fact an "Afterlife", then entry into it would rely on the goodness of your heart, so to speak, rather than blind faith. And if this is so, then I have absolutely nothing to worry about, and I will continue living my life without religion

After re-reading what I just typed out, some of the points I was trying to get accross didn't come out quite right, but I'm sure you get the basic idea

I'm looking forward to reading some of the SGW forum users' thoughts and opinions

Intresting post every one is inttitle to there own beliefs and you feel stronly about yours i see thats what i beloived until my friend got me going to church haha now i believe in being saved and stuff like that

I also don't like how often corruption has taken hold of religion.. Pretty disturbing if you ask me.

I'm an atheist. I don't advertise it in real life.

I only have a problem with religion when you get people who use religion far beyond what it was designed for. I knew a woman in a gaming community who banned anyone who said even mentioned atheism, while she said that atheists weren't worthy of living.

Sorry, I don't care about your personal experiences, when you use a religion to justify bullying and excluding others, you're not being devout.

I just think in finding any true belief is to start with yourself and search vigently in what you believe in after all it is a journey to find out your own truths.

Religion should never be used against any one and if you atheist that your choice and you have every right too it who knows maybe everyone but atheist are wrong with there belief is or maybe every one but colotn or lone wolf or tetris monley or me or any one else who has and will postion this forum are right and everone one else is wrong but all i know is i believe what i believe in

I respect that you believ what you believe in I may not in totallity agree but I think finding a belief is personal to the person and even being a athest is a belief and how they come to it is there way and I have respect for that but each person is on a journey its your own and only you have it or have to answer for it if you have to do at all.
