A piece of advice from Mordack

Every once in a while I get players, usually newer ones, asking me for advice about the game. "What have you done to get so far?", for example, or "What's the secret to your success?" Usually I shrug these questions off, and assure people that I'm nothing special and that everybody should try to make their own way in the game without attempting to copy anybody else.
Today, however, I'm breaking that rule with some advice to the community as a whole:
Don't try to please everybody. Being popular isn't important, and if you try to make everybody happy then you'll just end up disappointing people and letting everybody down. Pick your people and stick a big two fingers up to anybody and everybody else.
That is all.

Really didn't see this one coming. Can't argue with it though, my advise... keep every one at neutral; only declare peace if they are a GOOD friend, only declare war if EVERYTHING else fails...

Well since you DEMANDED me to reply to this i guess i must. I'm ~Vixion~, I'm not if you remember me but we once had a clash with a spoon...

Now to avoid this post being 100% spam I'll attempt to think of some more advise...
Try to avoid hitting any players in the following list (page 1 post 1) or you may be dragged into a long stubborn war...
List can be found here

Byrnes quit, man.
And. Good post Mordack! This thread is now so valuable now that you have posted here! I cannot help but want to take a piece of it with me to bed, that is how super awesome you are!
*wink to the group of people who don't like Mordack* Of course, you two can understand my joke..
*turns around to wink at the confused group of people who like Mordack* Oh, my irony is brilliant!
*gets stoned by all*
Ouch.

But educative post, M. Hope it spreads like a wildfire.

Tss , someone didn't comprehend the meaning of the topic
The topic as about " The story of my succes" , "How Mordack got a fanclub" , How come Universe lubes Mordack" and now Vix gets ingame stuff in this topic .
Yes Vix , the spoon was worse than the eyes

Also to make it less spamy :
Posting lots and lots also helps
But if you post make sure it has a meaning.
@Universe , No he didn't quit
I would miss him to much if he would
As long as his topic says I'll be back ,
I'll keep the fire at my lighthouse burning non stop.

What did you intend it to be about, then?
One word about sycophants.. we will never admit we are.

i actually like to think i live my life that way rather than attribute that advice to the game. trying to make people happy too much they turn around and use you for their own benefit rather than repay the favour. there are different moods and styles for different occasions in the game that you have to adjust to it.

what sort of noobs would do that?
sometimes older players( like me) ask those questions too!

and i don't really understand why we have to only have some friends and not others?
its only a game?
i may not be the most liked person about but i disagree that we should make enemies if they are not our friends?
just neutrals?
i've always been a calm and peaceful person, its my nature and i know its a war game and i'll happily get involved in any wars, but i don't believe that it should be taken too seriously? recently i've noticed people being threatened in RL and i completly disagree with this, as i know most would!
but people who take the game too seriously can ruin it for those who want to enjoy playing it?
*finishes rant before going extremely off course*

This has been my philosophy for a very long time now. No matter what you do, there will always be somebody to cry or whine to you about something you have done or not done.

there I thought you were going to say something like...
"Spend time raiding, be polite at first, have balls, never train more than 15% of your army into killable units..and don't get on the wrong side of Semper".

Sounds like much better advice to me

, would add more people than just you though

.
I would advice joining a nice active alliance (hey look pure familly is active!!!) make friends and get stable there, move up the ranks and keep active on main while staying sensible in game. Be friendly
