To be honest, it's really not that surprising, kinda obvious really. But I thought it would give our good Avenger some talking points.

I disagree, I believe that it does work.

no, i had to read through it twice to figure out what it actually spelt out!

but there definatly are some sort of subliminal messaging that does work!

I'm not saying that what the author tried works. XD I'm saying that I think that the article is right.

Exactly. The power of subliminal messaging is subtility and efficiency. A few words, preferably fitting just right in the sentence.. but once combined in your mind, giving a strong signal.


It is quite common actually.. one form is the use of euphemisms, for example the whole "war rhetoric" from the Bush-era that has now been abandoned by the Obama administration, has been replaced with very much more sensitive and subtle words.
Crude example would be work camps vs. concentration camps.. subtle example would be freedom fighters vs. rebels.



Subliminal messages used for actually getting you to do something.. I don't know. I'm sure it works to some extent.. but I cannot oversee the entire range of possibilities in that regard.

but personally, i don't even look into any of this because the TV and especially the news is ALL subliminal messaging (TV shows are not called "programming" for nothing).
an example would be the news, "today we was attacked by Al-Qaeda (otherwise known as Al-CIAda) and we need a war on terror". subliminal messaging in the classic sense isn't even needed any more, they just outright tell us what's good for us and whether we agree or not its shoved down our throats anyways! an example would again be the war in Iraq, millions of people all over the world demonstrated against it but "they" still went ahead with it.
and yet 1 more example would be all the bailouts, no one wanted to bail out the banks and businesses but that didn't stop them.


the point i'm trying to make is this, in the past the peoples consent was needed, so subliminal messaging was one of the tools they used in order to secure that consent, but with the implementation of all these ant-terror acts, laws and legislations they now have the power to do whatever the hell they like...
BTW, who knows about the recent passage of the new climate bill in the US?
