Could someone help me out here, and tell me what I did wrong? Probably something VERY obvious, but it just doesnt seem to find it's way into my conscious brain.


I have a psd, of course.. it looks pretty fine there.. but this is what came out.





Either way, hijacking my own thread.. I am afraid it won't be me who solves this etc..
I would like to place a request for a sig:


Sig size: 450*125 (or something along those lines, do as your capable eye sees fit)
Theme: Decepticon - SoundWave (particular Decepticon), prefereably the TF2 version.
Patterns: Soundwaves/waves.. maybe? Again, own discretion..
Colours: Main colour a deep dark blue, maintain red eyes whereever you use an actual Decepticon, and subtle hints of purple, if you please.
Text: Without quotation marks: "SoundWave" "Decepticon of Nemesis Prime" (the latter can be dropped in favour of either "Decepticon" or "Nemesis Prime" whichever works best in your work).

Payment; 2T naq.. if I am stunned, I can be a *very* grateful customer (read: I tip awesome work).

whats the problem with it?
apart from maybe the white edges( not sure if they're meant to be there) its pretty good?

Thanks, and yes.. it is kind of like how I wanted it, but the edges are too white. They were supposed to be first transitory and then completely transparent, "the closer to the edge, the more transparent".

Also. At first, I could read the "Sound" that is right in the middle of the big white blob thing that is part of the soundwave overlay, but now it has become .. almost one with the background. Quite pitiful.

How would one go about fixing it?

well, i know i'd be happy with something of that quality, considering i've never really used anything better than paint xD

How did you go about attempting to make the edges gradually transparent? Ya sorry to hijack your request >.>

Photoshop: Select all -> Select- Modify- Border (2px) -> Feather selection 2px, and then go through all layers clicking delete.
And then they were white and grey.

Thanks you too, and it's not bad, I guess ( ) but I had this other image in my mind and *almost* had that exact pic as an outcome. .. I can be a bit of a perfectionist when I really want to do something.

Your main picks at the sig you made is the text (not visible enough) and the border, right?

I was going to open up Photoshop and try a few new things, so I may try doing something for this if I can find an acceptable stock or render of Soundswave

Looks like you've got some offers of help on your current sig, but I would offer the same.

here's something else to chew on. Honestly think it needs a lil sumtin sumtin, but can't place my finger on it yet.

Went with the head of Soundwave, just like in your sig... theres something just not right with it, but i can't seem to put my finger on it.

maybe because you have the same head on the sig twice, with about the same proportions?

nope thats not it as i intented to use the head of soundwave...

Its the pink border: A) its pink, B) your C4D effects overlap it in places



I've got something im working on now, I'll edit this post with it once im happy with it

Interesting. I like the use of the Robotform Soundwave. *grin* The movie's satellite version is interesting too, I tried to create a good render (couldn't find any with Google..) but those pics are either too crappy, or have way too many subtle background details.
That didn't relate to your sig at all, did it, Serrin? Ah well. Yours is an interesting one.

It seems the soundwaves are also distorting the top part of Soundwave's head.. One *massive* plus, that is one AWESOME combination of fonts right there.
