well now, i have been doing some thinking on what kinda anime i like
normally i like shonen anime, fight scenes and stuffs. but more recently i have found myself watching high schooly romcom stuffs, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Suzuka etc
so, i'd like to know what your recipe for an epic anime would be?
mine would have to include:
mecha
love interest/romantic stuffs
epic battles/fight scenes
a nice old plot twist, enemies becoming allies etc
and a nice bit of mind trickery (people going insane etc) doesn't go amiss
a good ending, not one where everyone dies (in my mind thats a cop-out)
so, a few anime/manga series which have so far got a 10/10 from me:
naruto, bleach, one piece, haruhi, Hellsing, hajime no ippo

I'm not sure how to describe but yeah definitely into the ones with an epic storyline, good fight scenes and stuff
Shippuden, Bleach, Fate/stay night, Air gear (minus ending ), berserk, Darker than Black, Full Metal Alchemist, etc etc etc. Tons of good ones

Fate/Stay Night is a good anime, but for me the ending was unsatisfactory, left me praying for a sequel lol
FMA (first season at least) diverges too much from the manga imo
anime adaptations which stray from the original manga/novel or stop early are the worst type of anime in my opinion, i always end up dissapointed and angry at them lol
especially Suzuka, which i finished watching yesterday, now that i know what happens at the end of the manga, not sure if i wanna read the rest

Re: Recipe for anime awsomeness
For me, genres and stuff like that isn't so important. What is important is that the story line is interesting, and that the author writes it in a way that keeps you interested all the way through and begging for more at the end (not so much that you NEED a sequel--it should be a content ending, but with room for a squeal or spin-off should it be wanted enough). It takes a very special kinda author to do this, and any author that does it in whatever genre has my respect.
A 10/10 ranking?
1) Nana (Manga)
2) Veritas (Manwa)
3) Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi (Manga & Anime)
4) Id (Manwa)
5) Psyren (Manga)
6) Kekkaishi (Manga & Anime)
7) Katekyo Hitman Reborn (Manga & Anime)
8 ) Naruto (Manga...the anime sucks)
9) The Breaker (Manwa)
10) Beelzebub (Manga)
Of course, I could carry the list on to at least 30--but please understand that I have literally, collectively watched and read a couple thousand different anime and manga now.

If you like fighting sequences, check out "Kara no Kyoukai" also called "The Garden of Sinners" it's a series of anime movies, currently 5 are completed out of a total of 7 scheduled movies.
and for a love romance story with fighting, try "Tsubasa Chronicle"

Code Geass was awesome. What do you think of the last scene? I've seen a bunch of different opinions lol.

It Is Confusing. I was like aww damn, and started getting mad at the ending until I saw the last scene and was like, "wait... what does that mean?" lol
It is possible that Lelouch didn't die, for a number of reasons and not just because of C.C. talking to Lelouch in the last scene. Like Nunally seeing Lelouch's memory by touch, much like the Immortal C.C. with Lelouch, and it also happened with that other guy, the pilot of the Lancelot. Lelouch could have gained immortality when he killed his father btw.
Meh, it is confusing... awesome series nonetheless.
actually, it's not possible for Lelouch to have gained immortality when he killed his father. he still had his "command" geass after that event, which is something you lose when you reach the immortality level of the geass. so, what i assume C.C. was doing when she talked to Lelouch, was talking to the afterlife. a form of reminiscing.
and that's my take on it... >_>

Re: Recipe for anime awsomeness
C.C. was shown talking to Lelouch's mother at points throughout the series, who was supposedly dead. She was later shown to be alive. Also, just like with his mother, Lelouch's Geass activated just as he "died"
thats one way of looking at it, amongst others
tbh, while a sequel would be nice, it'd be rubbish, its nice to have a little air of mystery abt the ending
that's cause Lelouch's mother's geass was the ability to transfer mind and soul(with geass) to another body at "death".
and if you weren't paying attention, Lelouch's Geass was perma-active since episode 17 or 18 of R1, meaning of course it'd be active when he died...>_>
Re: Recipe for anime awsomeness
Doesn't matter if it was permantly activated, he could have used his Geass on every single person there to convince them that he was dead.
