I know this mainly occurs in Spam Temple, but is there anyway to limit the amount of emots a person can put in one post.. its getting to the ridiculous stage.. and very annoying for those of us with dialup.

tnx

Due to the small percentage of users still on dialup, I highly doubt such an action will occur. Although, as an alternative, you can edit your display options @ ucp.php?i=prefs&mode=view to reduce the number of images that are displayed.

Specifically, change the option:

"Display smilies as images:"

I haven't seen it myself, but what sort of figure of emots are we talking in the spam temple?

I'm sure the limit (if there is a current limit) can be reduced as we can't ignore users just because they're on dial-up. :-)

we'll try to get that fixed... we found the setting, but it is not responsive...

what sort of number are you thinking of?

We agree. Unfortunately the setting is at 'unlimited' atm, and doesn't seem to want to change.

We will speak with Bazsy when he is next available.

That would basically take away the ability for those on dial-up to see smilies as images at all.

Why should those on dial-up sacrifice that just because there maybe some that want to spam posts with smilie images?

That would be a reasonable argument, if the number of smiley-spam-posts would be significant. It is not. The few (if any) posts like this outside the Spam Temple are almost instantaneously removed, Vigilance!, but inside the Temple.. does it really matter all that much?

Now if we were talking about the number of signatures.. *that* is significant. Those spam posts .. well .. they're spam for a reason.

But where is the harm of changing the no. of smilies allowed from 'unlimited' to lets say '20'. ???

No harm in that, at all.

Therefore nobody should object to changing it... therefore everyone is happy, am I wrong? :-D

we would not think you wrong there... but it all depends on whether someone manages to actually change it...

Yes hopefully the issue can be fixed because I just went over to the BattleCorp Forums: http://sgwbcforum.herebegames.com/index.php and I changed the smilies limit setting over there from unlimited to 20 and it worked. So not sure why it's preventing it over here. But hopefully Baz may know.

Thousands. And they get edited anyway, no need to make a limit, especially one as ridiculously low as 20....

can you suggest a different number then?

its not fixed at anything until that limiting function works...

we tried lots of different numbers, and none worked... but we've got no problem with having a somewhat higher number... say 50-150...
none really need more than that... those that post hundreds or thousands of emoticons only try to flood forum and annoy people... and you know that jack...
