Preying on unwitting subjects to find very cheap deals.
Be advised to keep up to date on current pricing, so as not to fall for, but instead to foil feeble traps like this.

I do not know whether or not you are talking about the same person, but the one who messaged me (and at least Totoro as well) has been pretty active on this market, and is entirely aware of the current pricing. In fact, he has previously complained about the prices being "too high to make a profit and that sucks".
While I do not condone ingame action be taken against him.. I can understand some would feel differently.

That means nothing. A few AC's trained up high, and you're there.
Besides, without meaning any offence to Tech, they have relatively small armysizes, weak incomes and do not seem to be the most active group on the block. Of course, they may just be laying low, but from what I can tell (I spied them.. and since I like 12ag I keep an eye on him) they're not much of a threat.
In any case, that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. So, without further ado, does anyone have any objections to me requesting a lock, or do you guys feel it's necessary to continue talking about this?

After all.. think of the newbies that fall for this trap! The guy will make double his investment back with just one time selling.

ya same people ive seen. theyve been doing it for a while and they used to end the messages with a message about "lets help each other prosper" got one of my officers a few times before i found out about it. I dont like that kind of thing because ive seen it atleast a few times on newer players who arent fully tuned into the market workings yet. sure the units help them but giving them nearly half what its worth is just pathetic.
that being said apart from this i like the majority of that alliance

I have two points:
1. I have not received such an unsolicited market proposal in a PM. But one of my friends did recently, while I sat right next to him. This one wasn't even offering close to the market price (from memory he wanted to pay 200b/300k). I told him to refuse and the replies he received, though not specific, implied that there would be consequences for failing to trade - and contained a revised, yet still monumentally unfair offer. We just said no again and never heard back.
2. On the flip-side, if anyone with trade ability (FSS) is still enough of a n00b to fall for such a rip, then maybe they need to learn the hard way. I'd never pull that kind of stunt (I'm more of a blackmail man, myself

), but yet again I'd have to laugh at anyone who fell for it.
